Congrats to Julia Sweeney…

On her wedding day!

*sigh*

That’s one less atheist woman for me… The good ones are all slipping away!

Single people, make yourselves known to the rest of us!

Are you only considering atheists as potential mates?

  • Siamang

That is INDEED a good one to have gotten away.

I bet Mulan was beautiful in her dress! *SOB* I’m such a julia stalker, I feel like I know her family from her works!

I’m not. I’ve dated religious people in the past. But no doubt it would be pretty nice if the girl and I had similar beliefs. It would probably prevent some of those religion-related problems in the future (regarding children, family members, etc)!

That’s SO great! I feel like I know her, too, just from reading her blog and hearing her on the radio and having seen her show. I’m so glad for her.

It’s almost like the lord is blessing her, except maybe it’s Satan because she’s spreading the godless message.

    Or not. ;-)

I began reading your blog after I read your book, Hemant, and have also been reading Julia’s blog.

You both seem quite the monogamous type. In fact Julia seems to think it is the natural default.

    It’s not necessarily so.

I’m not single, but I’m also not monogamous. Are polyamorists so rare among atheists that you would naturally ask the question the way you did?

I don’t know that’s monogamy is the default but it’s what I’ve always been used to and I never looked beyond that. Hence, the phrasing above.

I do know a couple atheists in polyamorous relationships. It works for them. As long as both people in the couple are fine with it, more power to them. I do think it’s the exception, though, even in atheist circles.

    Or maybe I’m wrong…

Men are not naturally monogamous, but once you commit to a women, you have to be. That’s my view. Having said that, if a woman can abide polygamy, then I’m not philosophically opposed to it. This crap with the Mormons down in Texas is bullshit.
