The Chicago Coalition of Reason billboard is making news!

The link currently goes to a blog piece, but I’m told a longer article will be in the print edition on Thursday. The link may be changed in the morning.

(Take that, Big Apple Coalition of Reason!)

Hopefully they learn how to spell atheist before it prints.

  • Richard Wade

I left a message about the mispelling. It will be interesting to see if it is corrected.

  • Andrea

OK, I love the phrase “commuters of faith”.

  • Jay

    oh, and yay!

  • Elizabeth

I was just coming over here to comment on that – I’m currently in Egypt and have been checking the Trib website – and this morning, what do I see??? The billboard!
I left a quick comment for someone who pulled out the old canard about having faith that the chair under me won’t break when I sit on it.
    Congrats to everyone for this!

that is awesome to see. I hope in my lifetime the rate of religious nuts drops to 20% or lower in the US. maybe, just maybe it can happen :)

Congratulations, Chicago! Yes, you can be good without god! :D

And the front page of the Tribune! Wow. Here in Morgantown, WV, the three major papers never did a story on our billboard.

  • muggle

    Woo hoo! Congratulations!

I work at Tribune, i’m so proud.

As a side note, posting images of those heretic billboards probably explains why god made us go bankrupt.

I’m so glad this is up! The head of Chicago COR (which I think people should join, btw!) was telling me about the billboard, but since I don’t live in the city, I didn’t think I’d get to see it!

FYI I think the Tribune comment moderator is up to his or her eyeballs in work today – I’ve posted twice and keep waiting to see mine pop up but the most recent comment to be approved is stamped October 22, 2009 at 02:00 AM – who’da thunk a topic like atheism would have spurred so much activity?!

  • llewelly

hm, moderation must be slow, because it’s been hours since my first comment, and none of my comments have been posted.

Most of those comments are so disheartening. It’s clear that those people just don’t get it.
