A Bollywood Christmas Song

Umm… I don’t know whether to be proud or ashamed as an Indian person:

I apologize for unleashing that on all of you.

(via Sepia Mutiny)

  • Eli

It’s great! :D You don’t have to be ashamed ;) I’m going to spread it among my friends. Aaaah! I love it! XD

  • Amy G

    I don’t know… It’s fun, but I think I’m a little offended for you.

  • Mary

I like it. It makes me want to get up and dance!

  • JJR

Be proud…it put a smile on my big face
    (and I laughed).

My local Indian restaurant always has the bollywood version of what passes for MTV playing in the background on satellite TV…it’s very entertaining and the music is sometimes very catchy.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Scott

It’s fantastic! What are you talking about? This should have been the original music to the song!

  • Derek

Definitely be proud. (and maybe a little ashamed) ;-)

Either way thanks for the laugh.

  • TruFru

    This one’s more popular, I believe…

    Perfect!

  • Mark

If I can listen to Pipeline (a surf guitar classic) on a Sitar and some reed instrument then anything goes.

  • Richard P

well I don’t know about the rest of you, but I am glad as a kid I never saw this. I would still be having santa nightmares.

other than the freaky santa it was entertaining.
    your apology is accepted

  • JulietEcho

I only watched the first 17 seconds, and I know I’m going to have nightmares about that.

    And I’m almost 24.

  • Evan

See, I loved this. It’s like Spongebob swooped through South Park then crash landed in Mumbai. I keep replaying it. :D

That was absolutely sic. I like watching India Waves because the video’s are so outrageous and the music is so good. Don’t be ashamed for the awesomeness of your culture, I wish I was Indian. good luck in the next Super Bo…I mean spelling bee (jk). Happy stolen pagan Holidays. Kriss

    Be proud.

    It is insanely fun!

    =)

Hope you all are having a good time with your families and friends, religious or not.

    I sure am.

  • muggle

That was hilarious even if the jingle bells look more like spaceships.

TruFru’s link is even better. Loved the little imitation Indian Elvis and I hate the real thing.

If you should be embarrassed over that, then as I white person what am I to be over Jerry Falwell? For that matter, I have a French-Canadian grandmother and Alex Trebek is pretty damned embarrassing.

  • Chakolate

I loved it! Much better than the original, IMO. And I liked the 12 days one, too, although not as much as this one. The buttered chickens were a nice touch. :-)

I love Bollywood! So much energy!

  • Onotheo

    I like!
I’m putting it on my blog as well ^-^

Umm… I don’t know whether to be proud or ashamed as an Indian person:

First off this video is super fun and cool, (unless you are Garrison Keillor if which case you can go (expletive deleted) yourself) but I must say Hemant, I’m confused by why you would be proud or ashamed. You didn’t make this video yourself did you, you have no stake in it. Are you proud to be born an Indian person? I’m proud of things I actually do not random occurrences or accidents of birth, I understand not being ashamed of being of Indian heritage, but being proud of it is frankly bizarre. I didn’t even know you were an Indian person, I had always assumed you were an American person, my mistake, I should assume less and pay attention to the stated facts. I am still as mystified by your pride as I am of white pride or any other pride based on non accomplishments. In any case the folks who did make the video should be proud of the piece.

  • Aubrey

    oh. my. lord. both!~
