If atheists suffer from angst, despair, hopelessness & nihilism, as many christians over the past 2,000 years have said we do, why would we bother to organize and attend conferences?

It is a wild dream of mine to attend this conference… and it starts on my birthday.  It won’t ever happen but I can dream.  I’ll be with them all in spirit… hehe… see what I did there?  :-)
