Pastor Jack Schaap: Jesus Blessed My Affair with an Underage Girl

The more we hear about Pastor Jack Schaap, the worse his story gets.

First, it was an extra-marital affair.

Then, it was an extra-marital affair with a teenager.

Now, we learn, it was an extra-marital affair with a teenager that was approved by Jesus Christ:

Schaap wrote the girl, “You opened your heart wide to me — you made me more than a Pastor/Rescuer — you made me your friend your confidant, your beloved. You gave me your trust, your heart, your love, + your affection,” according to the memo.

Schaap continued that their relationship was sanctioned by God and he referred to their “fantasy talk” during a counseling session. “You have affectionately spoken of being ‘my wife.’ That is exactly what Christ desires for us. He wants to marry us + become eternal lovers!”

To quote a Chicago Tribune commenter: WWJF?

Perhaps the most disturbing part of the prosecution’s testimony:

Prosecutors said the two had sex in his office while a youth conference was underway at the church in July 2012.

It looks like he could be spending the next decade in prison. We’ll find out in a week when his sentencing takes place.

And somehow I’m sure a good number of the members of his flock will still support him and find a way to turn this around and blame it all on the girl. I’m waiting for the follow-up story with quotes from them.

  • Stan Ferguson

I hope he intends to use this as his defense in court. We’ve already heard “the devil made me do it;” but I think “Jesus said it was okay!” is fairly novel.

  • Matt Oxley

    He’s diggin hard and fast.

  • Rich Wilson

Well of course. It was a girl after all! I mean, if it had been a boy well then- oh wait, never mind. No, we’d still find a way to forgive him since Jesus would. The marriage would be off however.

  • A3Kr0n

Too late, he already pleaded guilty.

  • Sue Blue

I’m just waiting for the bit about how he was just following God’s example when God premaritally “knew” a very young Palestinian teen 2,000 years ago and begat Jesus.

These guys just don’t know the meaning of the word “shame”, do they?

  • Sue Blue

Of course. It’s all that slut’s fault. Even if she’d been hospitalized in a come when he screwed her, it would be the fault of her vile, temptress-y feminine nature…and those slutty, easy-access hospital gowns with nothing underneath them. Whore!

  • C Peterson

Religionists like to claim a superior moral standard because it comes from a god. Yet over and over we see that basing one’s morals on the words of an imaginary being simply frees a person from having any real standards at all.

  • Sue Blue

I meant *hospitalized in a coma” – typographically challenged today!

  • Kevin_Of_Bangor

I’m sure he has already repented and will make attempts to preach while in prison and deep down he will still think he is a good person who will be allowed into heaven. There is a good chance he truly believes all this is God’s will.

  • kaydenpat

    So Jesus supports adultery now?

  • kenneth

It’s only fair that the first guy to turn him out in the prison shower be allowed to claim Jesus’ blessing as well…..

  • GloomCookie613

Ugh, I hope they lock him up and lose the key.

  • The Captain

To be fair, my imaginary friend supports and approves of everything I do too.

  • Matt Norris

yes, screwing a teenager behind your spouse’s back is fully supported by Jesus. But two committed, loving individuals who just happen to be of the same sex makes him cry.

  • Kevin_Of_Bangor

But that will never happen because he will be segregated from general population.

  • Justin Miyundees

Lucky they can both be borned agin’ virgins & shit. So awesome! Look t’other way Jeebus! God is so GOOD!!

  • wyocowboy

    what a sick f@#k

  • Kevin_Of_Bangor

And don’t forget Jesus kills one of these every time you masterbate.

  • Mario Strada

I just came acropss this video of the good pastor. Very strange:

  • Don_Gwinn

“That is exactly what Christ desires for us. He wants to marry us + become eternal lovers!”

Grammatically speaking, in English, this means that Christ desires to enter into a three-person marriage and an eternal menage a trois with pastor Schaap and his underage “bride.” Am I alone on this? I’m not saying that’s what Schaap meant (necessarily) only that it’s clearly what he wrote.

  • Rain

So all that drama and all that yelling he does up there when he’s preaching is all a bunch of baloney and he doesn’t believe a word of it. Wow, I’m deeply shocked that a loud-mouthed preacher would be completely full of BS.

  • digitalatheist

that slutty whore-slut led him down the road. shame on her.. shame shame… /eye-rolling-”xtian^bulldookey”-font>

  • digitalatheist

My take was that the Jeebus approve marriage.. he wants us to marry HIM… so, that means that Jesus is bisexual and that all that “Hate the fags/hate the sin” stuff is just a bunch of crap. Jesus just endorsed Gay Marriage! Why? To quote Bill Gates: “Because it’s 2013!”.
Know I just hope the new Poop gets the memo from God’s “Fruit of the Loins”.

  • digitalatheist

    and a puppy too!

  • Mackinz

After all of the other (insert italics) child molestation scandals in the name of God and Jesus (Hey-Zeus), I’m not the least surprised that another Christian is being busted for his “moral superiority” and God-blessed ways.

I am disgusted, though. The mental abuse afflicted on the girl was bad enough not even counting the sex she had with Bastor.

  • Bubba Tarandfeathered

It almost seems that the more famous a religious leader is, the greater his crime will be. Once again I must reiterate that christianity is an excuse to commit crime. Christianity is a social camouflage that serves one sole purpose, to deceive. I’m sure at one point in his life he was a moderate christian, but time and time again we see how those moderates become corrupted by their Righteousness. Anything can be ordained by god. I say we must call these people out. We can not continue to sit on the wayside and allow these evil people to ruin the lives of others and our own. Being tolerant does not serve the betterment of society, it is an excuse to make allowances. Religion is a sin against humanity, it is a sin against our future, it is a vile and viscous meme that must be eradicated.

Damn it my cigarette burned out and the vodka has really taken a hold of my mind.

  • Machintelligence

    I thought he looked familiar.

  • mobathome

I don’t know that fame is correlated to crime. (It’s easier to notice crime comitted by famous people, and it’s easier to notice egreious crimes.) I should think there is a relationship between social power and this sort of crime, though. And as you say “Anything can be ordained by god,” and that throws the barn doors open.

Rape should not be lauded as a form of punishment.

  • allein

Yeah, I really don’t get all that “Jesus in the marriage” stuff…I’m really not into 3somes.

  • Rain

I saw a video where Schaap actually blames women for all sin due to the Adan and Eve thing. Who knows whether he actually believes it or not though. Does he believe the stupid crap, or is he a complete huckster, or some combination of both? Who the hell knows.

  • Derrik Pates

Is it bad that his use of the “+” sign instead of “and” bothers me almost as much as the fact that he was having an affair with a 16 year old?

  • Houndentenor

It’s Dominionism. Those “anointed by God” (political and religious leaders mostly) are exempt from the rules the rest of Christians are expected to follow. It’s okay for them to have affairs, just not everyone else. It’s a way of justifying hypocrisy but it’s rampant in parts of the Evangelical world. (See: The Family by Jeff Sharlett)

  • Jerry Kaifetz

There are no limits to this man’s depravity. It has been on public display for 11 years & the church staff & members did NOTHING. They bear a HUGE element of responsibility. Jerry D. Kaifetz, Ph.D., author of “Profaned Pulpit—The Jack Schaap Story”

  • pagansister

Seriously? JC said it was Fine and Dandy to have sex with a 16 year old? What a load of Bull.

  • Rob U

Well how else are people who don’t have pets going to control the pet population like Bob Barker wanted us to?

  • Rob U

How dare you criticize Jack for exercising his sincerely held religious belief that Jesus wanted him to fornicate with that teenage girl! You’re just a bunch of evil Satanists out to destroy god’s law and remove our religious freedoms!

What? We’re not talking about gay people or abortion!? Well that’s different!

In case you haven’t noticed, this is sarcasm.

  • wmdkitty

    Agreed. *shudder*

(Even if it is poetic justice… it’s still wrong.)

The priests have all the boys.

  • Tojowojo

I’ve followed this story with some personal interest and heartache because I am familiar with a number of acquaintances who are/were involved in Schaap’s church and college. And now, after reading many of the comments to this article, I am the more troubled. So many terrible things have been done by so-called followers of Jesus Christ in His name over the past centuries!…including Schaap’s abuse of a teenage girl! I have all but renounced calling myself a “Christian.” However, I am more determined than ever to follow the authentic Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, not the false Jesus who is detrimentally and pervertedly portrayed by false Christians! Jesus is not be blamed for all of this twisted behavior. He gets blamed for way too much. However, there is a poisoned system that chooses to call itself “Christian”. Blame it, shun it, condemn it, but embrace the living Savior. He is the way, the truth, and the life!

  • erwin

hey satan’s better shut up..Jesus does not approved of what the issue is. its a sin and Jesus was not approved that, this pastor commit mistake but worse as you are..,,to commit blasphemy is a more terrible sin….
