Most atheists living here in the United States were Christians at one time. Not only were we Christians, but we took Jesus, the Bible, and church seriously. That gives us a certain perspective. We don’t believe anymore, and that gives us a greater ability to speak honestly about corporate worship. Without the threat of hellfire, an atheist can sit back in his or her reading chair, sip on brandy, and say, “You know that thing you do? It’s a big sack of hangry squirrels.”
