Dear Family, Friends and Former Parishioners

by Bruce Gerencser cross posted from his blog The Life and Times of Bruce GerencserEditor's note: Posting this because sometimes it's a good idea to stop and look back to measure just how far we've come from our old life. What follows is the letter I sent in April 2009 to my family, friends and former parishioners. This letter came after Polly and I attended church for the 2008 Sunday before Thanksgiving. I am republishing it here so it is part of the historical narrative of my life. by Larry Solomon of Biblical Gender Roles - 10 Reasons Christian Couples Should NOT See Marriage Counselors and as always safely linked through Do Not LinkEditor's note: In this bit it seems like Larry thinks that any other man correcting a man in front of his wife and family is somehow cutting off the scoldee's testicles if I'm parsing this right. How on earth can we get through life with a faulty set of coping tools, where do we go to learn them, and how can we figure out how to be balanced when all we've seen modeled for us is extremes of power and of emotion?   This topic is a huge one, but a person can do a lot of good work on their own to develop healthy Emotional Self-Regulation after exiting.REMEMBER:  As with all things that make generalizations about groups of people, if this doesn't describe your experience after … [Read more...]
