Shackled Girl: Part 7 – Sometimes ‘Home School’ is Neither

by PropinquaEditor’s note: People are wondering whether Timothy Ciboro was a “real” home-schooling parent, or whether he merely hid three children behind Ohio’s lax home-schooling laws. Either way, he avoided pesky oversight while allegedly abusing his ex-girlfriend’s daughter. It’s time for the parental rights movement within home-schooling to stop viewing injured and dead children as unfair PR problems. They need to face the abuse that happens in some home-schooling families, and work to end that abuse. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Grandma Does Not Approve Then Take Extreme Measures?

by Debi Pearl from Above Rubies - Wolf in Grandma's ClothingEditor's note: This popped up when I was searching for what the Pearl's have had to say about the LGBT community. As usual it looks like the Pearls believe that instead of discussion, heeding the feelings of others and possible compromise you go to extremes. The reality of it is that there is conflict in almost all families. No one is going to agree on things 100% of the time. It's normal. What isn't normal is not dealing in reality with family members and purposely demonizing them like this. … [Read more...]

Answering ‘Preparing To Be A Help Meet’ – How Do I Let Him Know I Don’t Like Him Anymore?

Another installment of giving better answers to the questions asked at Debi Pearl’s site message board for the book ‘Preparing To Be A Help Meet’. Many young ladies ask questions on all sorts of different subjects brought up by the book. There was just one big problem, many of the answers stray into either the outright bad and emotionally unhealthy to dangerous. Yes, typical Debi Pearl borderline abusive. Here’s what we’re going to be doing here at NLQ. Every week, once or twice a week, I’ll be posting up one of the questions from the message board and ask you, our readers, to answer that poor soul’s question in a way that is logical,  rational and the best possible solution, in other words 1 … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: No Fat Kids Allowed?

by Shoshanna Pearl Easling from No Greater Joy - Why I Don't Have Fat KidsEditor's note: This was published this very morning and as soon as my eyes fell upon the title my mouth popped open and I gagged. How horrible she is both fat shaming and parent shaming. Isn't it possible she has thin children because her husband is a lousy supporter? Is she one of the daughters living in grinding poverty with a man that either refuses to work or works very little? I will agree that it is important to teach your children nutrition and to feed them properly, but this, there are no words. Michael Pearl's abusive nature unto the next generation.  … [Read more...]

Fundraiser – James Swift Author of ‘Rusted Rhinestones’

Putting a link here for the author of the book 'Rusted Rhinestones' James Swift. Swift was forcibly taken as a young teen to one of Mack Ford's 'Pray The Gay Away' camps, beaten, abused, sodomized at the boys camp near Monroe, Louisiana. Yes, where he was is part of the whole New Bethany mess, one of the Independent Fundamentalist Baptist Church troubled teens camps where children were abused in some of the sickest ways possible. If you haven't read James' book you should. It's a great quick read - 'Rusted Rhinestones' … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Education Only to Bring Children to God?

by Nancy Campbell from Above Rubies - A Good QuestionEditor's note: Of course there's no mention of the real reason to assure your children are educated: to produce well-rounded adults fully capable of participating in society and to make sure they have marketable skills they can use to support themselves in the future. While I have no problem with people using their education to help others it seems a bit childish and naive to state that the main goal is to make them love God more. Education does not actually work like that. … [Read more...]

It’s Summertime: Beware Evangelical Attempts to Evangelize Your Children

by Bruce Gerencser cross posted from his blog The Life and Times of Bruce GerencserEditor's note: This is a big thing in my small town except that it is not only VBS and day camps, but overnight week long camps run by the IFB church that is pitched in our community as a fun, wholesome and character-building experience while in reality it is a run-down facility with many safety violations and staffed by untrained and unscreened volunteers as an attempt to add children and families to the local IFB churches. Ask a LOT of questions of any camp, day or overnight, you send your children. … [Read more...]

Understanding Steven Anderson, Pastor Faithful Word Baptist Church, Tempe, Arizona

by Bruce Gerencser cross posted from The Life and Times of Bruce GerencserEditor's note: This is a post from 2015 in which Bruce explains everything you need to know about the Anderson family. Since there's currently a firestorm going on in the media over Anderson's remarks about the Pulse nightclub terrorist attack I thought we should try to educate the public as to who this man is and what he believes. We've bumped the newest chapter of Aletha's 'Created To Need A Help Meet' review back a week to showcase who the leader of a church listed as an official hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center actually is.Steven Anderson is the pastor of Faithful Word Baptist Church, an … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Guns Are Godly?

by The Johnson Family from Johnson Family - The Ten Most Common Gun Control Soundbites RefutedEditor's note: In like of the many, many shootings happening around our country it's time to look at the reasons Quiverfull families think having guns is a good idea. Whoever wrote this didn't so much refute anything as trot out some good old Christian martyrbating, fear-mongering and a soupcon of untrue tropes about weapons. However you feel about gun control it seems rather scary and dangerous to allow people like these that already feel threatened to possess weapons. Imagine a Steven Anderson doing open carry. How long do you think it would take before he shot someone that … [Read more...]

Live Facebook Reading Tonight: Chapter 2 of “What are you Doing?”
