Created To Need A Help Meet – Part 12 Mr. Steady (Dem Wimminz Hormonez)

by Aletha cross posted from her blog Yllom Mormonp 106-107Today we are finishing up the section on Mr. Steady. And how does Michael choose to close this section? Does he summarize the traits of a Steady? Will he exhort men to fix their weaknesses? Does he give a list of scriptures helpful for Steadies?Don't be silly. He talks about those female emotions. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: How Can You Tell if a Child Molester is Repentant?

by Michael Pearl from No Greater Joy - He That Covereth A Sin Is Not WiseEditor's note: This comes from Michael answering a letter he received from a woman who'd been molested by her father in childhood, said nothing about it and then found out years later that her father had gone on to molest many more children, including his grandchildren. She's bemoaning the fact that if she had told on her father as a child it would have prevented all these other victims. Strangely enough Michael actually has decent advice in his answer, it's not all 'It's your fault'. Such a rare occurrence that Michael gives some non-toxic advice I had to share it here. He could and should have gone farther and … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: So Eve Was the First Feminist?

by an anonymous writer/editor at Ladies Against Feminism - Empowerment vs. GraceEditor's note: Word salad ahead - the usual blathering about non-believer females being the fount of all evil that tears down Good Christian (tm) families and society. I guess they skipped the parts of the New Testament where Jesus treated the females he encountered as equals. … [Read more...]

Trusting Birth – Another View of Duggar Home Birthing?

Dr. Amy Tuteur is at it again. This time she's explaining in a blog post all the things that could have caused the type of bleeding that sent Jessa Duggar Seewald to the hospital post home birth. She also has an interesting view of the birth stories of other Duggar women that ended up in the hospital. Birthing odds of 200 years ago would have surely killed not only Jessa, Jill and Israel, but likely Michelle Duggar too. Josh was a forceps baby and her twins, Jana and John David were born by cesarean after Michelle developed preeclampsia. … [Read more...]

Answering ‘Preparing To Be A Help Meet’ – Should I Confront Him About This?

Another installment of giving better answers to the questions asked at Debi Pearl’s site message board for the book ‘Preparing To Be A Help Meet’. Many young ladies ask questions on all sorts of different subjects brought up by the book. There was just one big problem, many of the answers stray into either the outright bad and emotionally unhealthy to dangerous. Yes, typical Debi Pearl borderline abusive. Here’s what we’re going to be doing here at NLQ. Every week, once or twice a week, I’ll be posting up one of the questions from the message board and ask you, our readers, to answer that poor soul’s question in a way that is logical, rational and the best possible solution, in other words 18 … [Read more...]

On ‘Different’ Churches: You’re Actually Not

by Samantha Field cross posted from her blog Samantha P Field.ComA little while ago I reached out to my followers on Twitter to ask if they’d stopped attending church and why. I was flooded with replies over the next few days, and many of the answers I received were heart-shattering. In the midst of that conversation, the Twitter account for Highlands Fellowship church jumped in, inviting me and another woman to their church because they were “different,” and linking both of us to a promotional video. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: No Birth Control Leads To Growing Instead Of Crisis Management?

by Zsuzsanna Anderson from her blog Are They All Yours?Editor's note: The great comedy of this bit by Zsu is that in a previous entry she was complaining that church nursery was dangerous to children because of the adult to child ratio. Yet here she is saying that passing on the tradition of no birth control teaches you to grow from being stretched to your limits. So which is it? There must be so many children to adult for safety or not? She also was claiming that a nursery at a former church she attended was responsible for the deaths of  babies in the nursery. Surely if an alarming number of babies were dying at a certain church's nursery wouldn't we hear about that in the news? Would … [Read more...]

Do Tell!

by Ellen cross posted from her blog When Church HurtsI receive many messages thanking me for sharing my story of spiritual abuse via this blog.  People ask if they may use what I have written in their book project, as part of a spiritual abuse presentation or seminar.  People applaud my “courage” and often express their personal fear that, were they to tell their own story, they would suffer serious consequences. The desire to tell their story is framed in several ways.  Some know that telling will help them to heal.  Some want to warn others, or, at the very least, open the eyes of those who cannot see.  They hope that by telling, their friends, family members, church comrades, even … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Sex Slavery Instead of Welfare?

by Kevin Swanson as quoted by Raw Story from his radio program Generations With Vision - Sex Slavery Better Than WelfareEditor's note: Whenever I see quotes like this by Swanson I always wonder what the heck he's doing down in his basement. Whatever it is it sounds like it's time for him to emerge and go out into the real world. This is pretty vile. For all his criticisms of welfare I don't see him rushing out to help defeat the problems of long term poverty in inner city families.Keep in mine this is the same guy hosting three of the presidential candidates, Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee and Bobby Jindal, this weekend in Iowa at a conference that looks like it will be filled with Biblical … [Read more...]

Created To Need A Help Meet: Part 11 Mr. Steady (You’re Not A Leader, But Lead Your Family)

by Aletha cross posted from her blog Yllom Mormonp 104-105We are getting near the end of the Mr. Steady chapter. Personally, I can't wait to be done with the sections on types. Anyway, today Michael is summing up Mr. Steady's character, and offering advice about how to be better (read: be more commanding).Text is in purple … [Read more...]
