First Look at Jessa and Jill Duggar on TLC’s ‘Counting On’

About an hour ago The Learning Channel shared the first look video on the new Duggar television show 'Counting On'. The show will be focusing on missionary wanna-bes, Jill Duggar Dillard and her husband Derick Dillard and her sister Jessa Duggar Seawald and her husband and all around Jim Bob Duggar go-fer Ben Seawald. What struck me the most about this video snippet, besides the fact that Jill is crying again over the actions of her brother Josh, is Jessa Duggar Seawald's lips. I kept staring and rewatching in horrified fascination because it looks to me like someone has had lip filler injections. Please, someone tell me this is just my imagination, pretty pretty please? … [Read more...]

How Parents’ Intolerance of a Child’s Immaturity Creates Both Victims and Abusers

by Cindy Kunsman cross posted from her blog Under Much More GraceOriginally published January 2012. This is part of a series on Understanding How Emotional Development in Childhood Affects Adults: Fostering Spiritual Abuse via the “Roots of Victimization” All images originals from Under Much More Grace. As noted earlier concerning the natural characteristics of children, the parent's proper respect for and care of a child's immaturity builds the basis for self control in their adulthood and helps them learn how to effectively manage and govern their lives as adults. This mastery, a characteristic of maturity, also provides for a healthy sense of spontaneity. Healthy maturity involves rel … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: God Is At Your Table?

by Nancy Campbell from Above Rubies - Whose Table?Editor's note: Another place that Nancy is claiming that you have to be perfect at because God is there in your home. Your table. So how does that work when your table is piled high with homeschooling supplies or is the catch all for the things you don't have time to handle? Or perhaps you never eat at your pristine table? It seems that more and more Nancy is grappling for more ways to keep women fearful and anxious over every aspect of their home or lives not being 'good enough' She really loves to come up with strange notions to fear-monger with. … [Read more...]

Answering ‘Preparing To Be A Help Meet’ – How To Handle A Command Man?

Another installment of giving better answers to the questions asked at Debi Pearl’s site message board for the book ‘Preparing To Be A Help Meet’. Many young ladies ask questions on all sorts of different subjects brought up by the book. There was just one big problem, many of the answers stray into either the outright bad and emotionally unhealthy to dangerous. Yes, typical Debi Pearl borderline abusive. Here’s what we’re going to be doing here at NLQ. Every week, once or twice a week, I’ll be posting up one of the questions from the message board and ask you, our readers, to answer that poor soul’s question in a way that is logical, rational and the best possible solution, in other words 18 … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Having A Job Is Restful?

by Nancy Campbell from Above Rubies - Don't Give Up Halfway Through!Editor's note: Has Nancy ever worked outside of the home? Even before she had kids? If she had she would have realized just how wrong she is about work. It's not 'restful', unless perhaps you work in a sleep lab as a guinea pig. People usually do not get jobs to get the heck away from their children. It's usually because they need the extra money coming in, not for some ridiculous reason that Nancy likes to invent. What silly ideas she has. … [Read more...]

News: Dillards Refunding Donations

According to the website Raw Story Jill Duggar Dillard and her husband Derick Dillard have come up with a response to the hordes of angry people who feel ripped off. Many fans of the Duggar family from TLC's '19 Kids & Counting' television show gave charitable donations for the Dillard family to be missionaries in Central America, only to discover that the Dillards were likely using the funds to vacation and fly back and forth to Arkansas for family visits instead of helping the poor of El Salvador. … [Read more...]

News: How Many More Dead Homeschooled Children Will It Take?

by Suzanne TitkemeyerI've avoided this story, avoided reading it, avoided posting it here at NLQ. Why? Because of the many disturbing implications of this incident, because I know too many churches too well that this could have happened in from my former faith life.  It makes me sick thinking about this boy's last hours. This week the New Hartford Word of Life Christian Church beat a member to death. Beat him to death in an attempt to get this nineteen year old young man who expressed a wish to leave the church into confessing some imaginary litany of sins. They just about killed his 17 year old brother too. But Christopher Leonard was lucky. He's alive and currently in serious … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: So the Problem When Looking is Really Judgmentalism Not Lust?

Found on Ladies Against Feminism but written by Tim Challies from - It's Not Just a Guy ThingEditor's note: The part quoted by Ladies Against Feminism is very odd, just the beginning of the post, without going into the scary-blame-y meat of this thing. The first part was the standard yapping about men looking at women with lust.  According to Tim Challies it is not so much an issue of men ogling random women, but women also looking at folks and judging them. Way to take a Christians-mostly problem in the church and make it all about blaming women. Most people not in the church do not care if others are looking at them and secretly lusting. Very creepy. … [Read more...]

Created To Need A Help Meet: Part 7 Mr Steady (Give Your Ornamental Wife A Purpose)

by Aletha cross posted from her blog Yllom Mormonpp 98-99This section is interesting to me. In fact, I think it is one of the more intriguing sections I've read. Mostly because Michael comes dangerously close to saying women have needs and desires of their own. Yeah, I was shocked, too. Read on! … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: What The Duggars and Dillards Are Really Doing in Central America Besides Living On Donors Money?

Found on the Facebook group Duggar Family News: Life is not all pickles and hairspray by Carissa from the blog Windsong Imagery - God's Work in El SalvadorEditor's note: All that speculation over what the Duggars and the Dillards do on their SOS Mission trips beyond hand out Dollar Tree trinkets to the locals has been answered by someone that has been on a few trips with them. Are they helping build homes, or feeding people, or doing anything of any practical use? Nope, it's straight up Catholic-bashing and trying to convert Catholics to be evangelicals. All those folks that gave generously to Jill and Derick Dillard didn't just pay for their travel back and forth and back and forth … [Read more...]
