“Lies Women Believe” Review 167 – 192

by Samantha Field cross posted from her blog Samantha P Field.comI think it’s possible that we might be over the hump as far as how terrible the chapters can get. The only sections left for the Lies Women Believe review cover children, circumstances, emotions, and the concluding segment. The “Emotions” chapter might be a bit rough, but today’s, compared to last week’s chapter, is a cake walk. Of course, almost anything compared to a doctrine that could kill women seems like a breeze. This week’s chapter covers what Nancy thinks about children, which means an extensive discussion on, you guessed it, family planning. IT’S UP TO US TO DETERMINE THE SIZE OF OUR FAMILY She roots her arg … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Why All the Hormone-Blaming?

by Steven L Anderson from Faithful Word Baptist Church - Being a Psalm 23 HusbandEditor's note: While some of what Anderson is saying below is true - there will be tough times in marriage - but he eventually goes to that place that Michael Pearl, Biblical Gender Roles and countless other patriarchs go: blaming a woman's hormones for adding to the bad times. Men please get a grip! Hormones aren't causing the strife in your marriage and aren't to blame for everything going sideways! Men have hormones too and be every bit as irrational and angry as the women they accuse. … [Read more...]

The Duggar Family: Jill & Derick Dillard Mission Status & One Slick Real Estate Deal?

Turns out that Jill Duggar Dillard and her husband Derick Dillard are not fully-sanctioned missionaries who have the approval of the Southern Baptist Convention.  They are also not part of the SBC's International Missionary Board either. Not officially part of any legitimate organization, meaning all those angry people who'd initially given to the Dillard Family Ministries have likely paid for a lengthy vacation in Central America for the Dillard family.  At least this is according to The Inquistr - Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard Rejected As Missionaries By The Southern Baptist Church … [Read more...]

What Churches and Time Shares Have in Common – Toxic Manipulation

by Suzanne Titkemeyer cross posted from her blog Every Breaking WaveLast week my husband Jim and I spent a week with friends at a resort in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It's a pretty nice place, perfect if you want to stay in a perfectly groomed white bread version of a tropical resort with fences and guard gates, minus the ocean but plus a pile of fancy swimming pools. It's wonderful for what it is, but it's not to everyone's tastes. The photo to the left was taken from our suite's balcony overlooking one of the pool areas. It's not a time share, nor do you actually own a week or a certain suite there. It's a vacation ownership organization that works on the points system. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: God MIght Kill You Over a Booty Call?

by Steven L. Anderson from Faithful Word Baptist Church - Being a Psalm 23 HusbandEditor's note: Because of the weird way Anderson reads the King James Version Bible he's not going to come right out and say the words 'sex' or 'sex outside of marriage'. He's calling sex without marriage 'foreign occasions', which makes it sound like he's talking about Bastille Day or Cinco De Mayo instead of what it actually is. Every preacher in the world comes down hard on those that have sex outside the legal and religious bonds of marriage, but Anderson takes it farther, to claiming that God strikes dead some folks that have unmarried sex. Maybe it's wish projection of his. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Jesus Loves Guns?

by Steven L. Anderson of Faithful Word Baptist Church - Being a Psalm 23 HusbandEditor's note: Looked at this piece on Faithful Word's website figuring that Anderson might do some ridiculous ranting on the roles of men lording over women ala Biblical Gender Roles dude only to find him saying basically that owning a gun to protect your wive is biblical. In light of the recent shootings happening in the US by random MRA-type guys I can't say it makes me feel any safer to know that another unhinged-seeming patriarch with masculinity issues is running around with a deadly weapon. Your thoughts? … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Part 2 – So Does This Punishment Fit The Crime?

by Biblical Gender Roles from Biblical Gender Roles.com - 7 Wyas to Discipline Your Wife (linked through Do Not Link)Editor's note: As we've seen too many times with this guy it all really boils down to sex. His having sex every single time a stiff breeze or nothing gives him a random erection. His 7th sin and punish is all about sexual denial of the husband by the wife. He believes in punishing for a wife refusing to provide sex as well as all the other ridiculous things he claims are the primary responsibility of the wife. Does anyone really consult their husband before buying clothing or even take him along?  Seems like everything on his list falls into the category of over … [Read more...]

Answering “Preparing To Be A Help Meet” – Ideas For Persuading Brothers To Use Good Table Manners

Another installment of giving better answers to the questions asked at Debi Pearl’s site message board for the book ‘Preparing To Be A Help Meet’. Many young ladies ask questions on all sorts of different subjects brought up by the book. There was just one big problem, many of the answers stray into either the outright bad and emotionally unhealthy to dangerous. Yes, typical Debi Pearl borderline abusive. Here’s what we’re going to be doing here at NLQ. Every week, once or twice a week, I’ll be posting up one of the questions from the message board and ask you, our readers, to answer that poor soul’s question in a way that is logical, rational and the best possible solution, in other words 18 … [Read more...]
