Quoting Quiverfull: Guns Are Godly?

by The Johnson Family from Johnson Family Ministry.com - The Ten Most Common Gun Control Soundbites RefutedEditor's note: In like of the many, many shootings happening around our country it's time to look at the reasons Quiverfull families think having guns is a good idea. Whoever wrote this didn't so much refute anything as trot out some good old Christian martyrbating, fear-mongering and a soupcon of untrue tropes about weapons. However you feel about gun control it seems rather scary and dangerous to allow people like these that already feel threatened to possess weapons. Imagine a Steven Anderson doing open carry. How long do you think it would take before he shot someone that … [Read more...]

Please feel free to join me tonight on NLQ's Facebook page for a live feed of me reading/drinking/snarking on Vaughn Ohlman's dreadful get-married manual 'What are you Doing?' at 7 pm est. Always at 7 pm est. See you then! But be warned. You will need to make sure you either have something to keep your stomach … [Read more...]

According to many media outlets Youtube has been besieged by many emails and pleadings to take down Pastor Steven Anderson's hate screed where he's celebrating the deaths of 49 innocent men in the Pulse nightclub shooting. Bruce Gerencser has the video still up on his page along with more information on what has happened along with some interesting observations on Steven Anderson written from the perspective of a former Independent Fundamentalist Baptist pastor - Understanding Steven Anderson, Pastor Faithful Word Baptist Church, Tempe, Arizona … [Read more...]

Gothard and Williams Draw their Cultic Hatred of Dinah from the Hebrew Midrash

by Cindy Kunsman cross posted from the blog Redeeming DinahAll images by Cindy Kunsman from Redeeming Dinah and used with permission. When I became involved in a church that followed the teachings of Bill Gothard, and as I spent more time with my same-aged peers who were involved in the Evangelical Christian homeschooling movement, I was surprised by the way they characterized certain women in the Bible. The teachings of many ministers within Independent Fundamental Baptist (IFB) church does not differ from what I heard – which all stems back to Gothard. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Awful Evil Parents Ruin Spanking For ‘Good Christians’?

Lori Alexander from Always Learning - The Rod Chapter FiveEditor's note: Possibly the most disturbing thing I've read over at Lori's blog. She's promoting the child abuse that the Pearls advocate. I guess dead children, the kindness of Jesus and the copious legitimate studies that prove that spanking your child is bad for them count for naught in her worldview. Sad that she'd promote abuse like this. No, a few bad parents do not 'ruin' it for everyone else, they illustrate something fundamentally wrong with anyone that thinks inflicting pain on a child to teach them a lesson. There's a word for that - Sadistic. I suspect for many of Pearl's followers there is a component of unrecognized … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Jews Are E-V-I-L?

by Steven Anderson from Faithful Word Baptist Church - Jews Are More Pro-Abortion and Pro Homo Than The IrreligiousEditor's note: Anderson has said some truly vile things in the past 24 hours. He's rejoicing over the deaths of men at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida and calling all that don't not true Christians. Here it sounds almost like he's about to try and round up the Jews and deal with them like the Third Reich did. We all know how well that worked out. Does he realize that Jesus was a Jew? … [Read more...]

Steven Anderson Says True Christians Rejoice Over Gay Deaths

Last night after I posted about Faithful Word Baptist Church pastor Steven Anderson celebrating the terrorist attack in Orlando Florida against the homosexual men Anderson's response was posting another video. This time he is upset that any Christians have shown even the slightest iota of sympathy for the victims and their families. According to him True Christians (tm) would only be happy about more 'sexual predators' being wiped out. He claims that God will punish those Christians who find these murders heinous just like He turned Lot's wife into a pillar of salt. … [Read more...]

Dr. Patrick Johnson and His Dangerous Advice to Depressives

by Bruce Gerencser cross posted from his blog The Life and Times of Bruce GerencserDr. Patrick Johnston is an Ohio family practice physician, founder of the Association of Pro-life Physicians, and the director of Personhood Ohio. He and his wife have nine children, all of whom are homeschooled. Several years ago, Johnston wrote a rebuttal to a post that I published about my views on abortion and personhood laws. Johnston believes there are no justifiable reasons for women to have abortions. Rape? Nope. Incest? Nope. Life of the mother? Nope or maybe. Severe physical malformation? Nope. Ectopic(tubal) pregnancy? Nope Huh? That’s right, Johnston does not think women should have access to ab … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Idolatry and Modesty?

by Lori Alexander from Always Learning - Making Idols Out Of IdolsEditor's note: Since it's bikini season and the quiverfull crowd is baying for the blood of any harlot not covering herself from knee to elbow many of the 'righteous' bloggers are upset. Personally I do think that many of the modesty crowd do make an idol out of being the most modest and feminine and stick out of a crowd in a way that draws much more attention to themselves. I thought the whole purpose of modest dress as described by Paul in the scriptures was as a way to blending in and not standing out. … [Read more...]
