Quoting Quiverfull: Part 1 – Examining the Toxic Theology of ‘The Transformed Wife’

by "Dave" - a commenter on Lori Alexander's book website explaining why women are evil rebels going to hell.Editor's note: Not linking directly to Lori's site this morning because she has several new posts up having what amounts to a very childish internet tantrum about the negative reviews on Amazon about her book and/or hawking it directly from her so the precious snowflake ladies that cannot handle negative emotions or words do not have to read them on Amazon. … [Read more...]

Dysfunction Disagreement in Christian Conversations

by Living Liminal cross posted from her blog Living LiminalI had another one of those conversations recently. You know, the sort where I ask a christian friend (as gently as I know how) a question about the implications of a statement they've made. And the response leaves me feeling like I've crossed some invisible line that reads, "Heretics and other outcasts stand here." My question remains unanswered... … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Part 4 – Silly Women Use Prozac?

by Michael Pearl from No Greater Joy – Drug AddictsEditor's note: I leave you with this very toxic last little bit that is entirely without merit. Michael gives medical advice and then doubles down on blaming mother for any health problems as 'sins'. Sorry, but it's not always that easy of a fix if you have a disease. Medicine might be required and decent legitimate medical care from a professional be the difference between struggling along sickly, or dying and living a full life. … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Part 3 – Silly Women Use Prozac?

by Michael Pearl from No Greater Joy – Drug AddictsEditor's note: Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Michael straying into the illegal area of giving medical advice without a license in his article? First time I've heard of the 'lined bowels' claim about white sugar. Paging Mel, what's the real scientific truth behind his claims? … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Part 2 – Silly Women Use Prozac?

by Michael Pearl from No Greater Joy - Drug AddictsEditor's note: Michael really ramps up the blaming and shaming of mothers who aren't 100% happy and overjoyed every minute of every single freaking day. One of the laughable things about this screed, and there aren't many, is that it was written in 1998 and by that time Prozac was no longer the most prescribed drug for depression, a flood of other SSRI had taken the lead. Plus substitute the word 'Valium' for 'Prozac' and this screed would fit well back in the 1960s. The Rolling Stones did a song about stressed out mothers and their drugs. This is neither a new problem or an uncommon one of mothers feeling stressed out, overwhelmed and … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Part 1 – Silly Women Use Prozac?

by Michael Pearl from No Greater Joy - Drug AddictsEditor's note: This article started out as a rant against boys taking Ritalin, but very swiftly morphed into Michael telling mothers exactly what was wrong with them. It's pretty sick and fits with our recent discussions in the comments on the lack of all compassion and disdain that Michael holds everyone but himself and Jesus. This is going to take a couple of days to unpack. Where does it say in the Bible that taking medicine for a problem is a sin? … [Read more...]
