Kevin Swanson, and Letting the Foxes Guard the Henhouse

Kevin-Swanson

by Libby Anne cross posted from her blog Love, Joy, FeminismDo you guys remember last week’s WORLD Magazine article on abuse and neglect in the Christian homeschooling community? The two solutions suggested by WORLD (and by the Home School Legal Defense Association) were these: (1) the homeschooling community should self police, including investigating educational neglect tips through agreements with state child protective services; and (2) homeschool families should be active members of churches, which will step in if there is a problem.Yesterday Christian homeschool leader Kevin Swanson spent his entire radio broadcast responding to the WORLD article, and it wasn’t pretty—but it was … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Chivalry is Important?

Brienne Maid of Tarth and Jaime Lannister - always squabbling over who holds the sword and stands in front of who.

by Jana, Jill, Jessa and Jinger Duggar from their book "Growing Up Duggar" From page 136 - 137: It warms our hearts when we're around young men, including our brothers, who are courteous and quick to practice the fine old art of gentlemanly chivalry. church

by Living Liminal from her blog Living LiminalThis morning, I read an article entitled Why You Shouldn’t Give up on the Church. The author is the son of a 'famous' christian. I find I can connect with Jesus's people wherever I meet them.He opines that, "To leave the Church is to hurt yourself and to hurt others." I left because it was the only way to stop the hurt. His judgement: "leaving the Church... is escapism." My experience: leaving the institution was the only way to escape the abuse. … [Read more...]
