Quoting Quiverfull: Covering Your Rear?

seemorebutts

by Roxy from Living From Glory to Glory - Women Wearing Pants Everywhere We can be so vain or more, focused on comfort that we can forget about dressing in a feminine way, where only a dress or a skirt, might be a better choice of clothing. Why is it that some ladies will not ever wear a skirt or dress? This is not a matter of legalism. But rather maybe a dress code!Years ago it was considered rude not to dress in proper way!Dinner, Dates, Holidays, CHURCH...Will we make a choice to help turn the tide; Wear a skirt or dress and say NO to pants for just the sake of, Keeping skirts and dresses the choice of clothing for ladies onlyAs it stands it is the only thing we … [Read more...]

Not Quoting Quiverfull: Remembering 9/11 – Love Endures

nineeleven

For once I cannot dispute something posted at the usual hysterically histrionic site Ladies Against Feminism. They posted this piece remembering the national tragedy of 9/11 and how we forgot our divisions to come together and that love itself is the only thing that really matters. This was one of those rare moments in this country where religion, race, class or other divisions suddenly didn't matter. Many citizens of our nation managed to put aside their differences and objections to just be people helping other people.Love: A Manifesto of Optimism by George Grant … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Not Having Babies is Equal to Arguing With God?

womb

by Nancy Campbell from Above Rubies - Dare We Argue With God? God's creation of our bodies is perfect, yet it seems that man often thinks he knows better than God. Our great Creator blessed us with a womb to conceive and bring forth children. And yet many women hardly want to acknowledge they have a womb. If they do, they take action to make sure that it cannot function as God intended. Men also stop the function of their fertility to their own detriment. Many think that by having a tubal ligation or vasectomy they are saving their lives. The opposite is the case. When we try to save our lives we lose them. When we lose our lives for Christ's sake, we find them (Mark 8:35). Our own way … [Read more...]

“Real Marriage” by Mark Driscoll: review xi-xiv Preface and Introduction

preaching

by Samantha Field cross posted from her blog Defeating The Dragons Ok, so I read four pages of Real Marriage this morning. There’s eleven chapters, so with that plus covering the preface and introduction today, I’m going to try to wrap this up in three months and avoid as much of the “multiple weeks dedicated to one chapter” thing that happened a few times with Captivating. I don’t think you or I could handle it. Like Fascinating Womanhood and Captivating, Real Marriage will inevitably have statements that I agree with, mostly because they’re common sense. And, the first time I read these pages this morning, I thought I could agree with a good portion of what he said in the preface, which i … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: Is Using Accountability Software “Trusting In The Lord”?

accountability1

Remember last week when we posted an account by The Joy Filled Wife of how her husband harangued her over a piece of bread and other bad abusive behaviors he exhibited while addicted to internet pornography?  Over on the Always Learning blog - by Lori Alexander - there is a piece about how Joy Filled found out her husband was using pornography because the accountability software installed on his computer sent her an email with info about how many links he visited and how long he spent surfing these links. While NLQ isn't condoning addictions or pornography it does beg the question - Is it right or moral to monitor your significant others internet usage? What do you think?Lori also has … [Read more...]

Quoting Quiverfull: When Did Home Cooking Get Elevated to “Godly” Status?

IMG_1533

Very interesting. Apparently Slate magazine posted a piece by a female writer who dared *gasp!* to say that putting a home cooked meal on the table nightly wasn't necessary and to stop fetishizing the entire idea. The ladies at Ladies Against Feminism became so outraged by that statement that they had to refute it not once, but twice on the same day. I am posting bits of each. Tell me what you think. Tempest in a teapot of the end of civilization as we know it?The article from Salon and the quoted pieces they seemed to object to the most Let's Stop Idealizing the Home-cooked Family Dinner by Amanda Marcotte … [Read more...]

Pastor Mark Driscoll Called Women “Penis Homes”

penishome

by Libby Anne cross posted from her blog Love, Joy, Feminism(Editor's note: Last week here at NLQ we posted a snippet of quote by Mark Driscoll along with a link to lots of Driscoll's thoughts on marriage and sexuality from a message board he used to post at. This is just the sort of stuff that reveals the mind set of the real Mark Driscoll much more than any officially published book ever could. Nice catch Libby Anne, and as always, a very well written piece!)Things have been getting worse and worse for Mark Driscoll in recent weeks. But what I want to point out for a moment is one of Driscoll’s posts from 2001, when he was posting to a church message board under the name William W … [Read more...]
