Quick takes #8

Quick takes #8 February 5, 2010

1.
I mentioned my friend who was in the the process of adopting an Orphan from Haiti when the earthquake hit. Well thank you so much for all your prayers! They were able to take their little boy home with them last week. He is adjusting well and loving all his new siblings! Praise God!

2.
I am so happy January is over!!!! What a blah, boring, cold, nasty month. February isn’t promising to be much better, but at least its not January.

3.
My baby girl is 3 this week! Well, she’s not really the baby anymore, but she’s still my baby. 🙂 I am so blessed to be her mommy! Her enthusiasm for life and the way she takes joy in such simple things make my day. And the solemn way she repeats things we say is hilarious. Anything wrong in Ms. Action’s life can be solved by a hug, and I love giving them.

4.
I was doing well with my exercise routine and swimming 3 times a week.(I found the only exercise I actually like!) Until we lost our drivers licence for 2 weeks. Since then I have been trying to walk on the treadmill everyday. But my routine is slipping. I hate exercise. But I don’t think swimming is the greatest option either since it involves more money and somehow juggling what little time my hubby is home just so I can get out to swim. I just don’t think its that sustainable. So I am trying to figure out a way I can motivate myself jump on the treadmill everyday.

5.
I got a Blog award, and I keep fooling myself into thinking that I will find time to do it at some point. This time I think I’ll just acknowledge the kind lady that sent it and skip the whole “listing 10 blogs that I like and then notifying them that they have been awarded and must do the same” part. Thanks Judy! Maybe I’ll be able to find the time next time around.

6.
I am making huge steps in my fight to de-clutter my home and get organized. I am now happy to say that I am thrilled with my bathroom, girls bedroom, laundry area and living room. Those rooms are pared down to just what we actually use, and everything has a place. The kitchen needs a bit more work, and I’m not even going to talk about the storage area. But the one room that I keep putting off, and dread more and more. Is my bedroom. In my cleaning and streamlining of the other rooms of my house, I ended up putting anything I couldn’t get to right at that moment into my room. And now there is a mountain (or maybe a mountain range) of clothing, shoes, toys, and just “stuff”! Its driving me crazy and I’m still not sure when I am going to have the “child-free” moment (more like day!) to pick it all apart and get rid of it! For now I have a little path from the door to my bed. Wow, that really is pathetic, I soooo need to tackle this project soon!

7.
I have the most amazing husband! He really is the best man in the whole wide world. He reads to our babies, he rubs my feet, he loads the dishwasher. He tells me I’m beautiful. He hugs me everyday (very important!) He has hair that sticks up in back and big broad shoulders. He works his butt off everyday to provide for us. He gets more and more thoughtful every year we are married. For my birthday last year he got me the diaper bucket I needed (wait it gets better!). Inside of it were 2 Gatorade’s, a bag of Cheetos, and a big bar of chocolate! Everything my pregnant self had been whining for. (And this is from the man who never remembered to get even a card back in our early early married life) And best of all he will fight with me. Seriously, I couldn’t stand someone who didn’t have their own opinion and wasn’t willing to banter with me about stuff, and if you never fight, you never get to make up! So a good argument once in a while is a must. It was actually on my list of things I wanted in a mate. (Yes, I had a list, and I brought it to our first official date!) Anyways, I’m getting sidetracked. I’m thinking of maybe doing something special for Valentines day. I’ve got some ideas of my own, but I would love to hear other ideas too. Especially if you have small children that tend to throw a wrench into whatever you happen to have planned! Please share your wisdom!!

P.S. Isn’t it amazing that I actually had 7 random things that I could keep myself from writing a whole post each?
