Brent Bozell, a leading Christian conservative, has been exposed as a fraud.
Newspapers are dropping Bozell’s syndicated column after inside sources revealed Bozell does not write any of the material published under his name.
The revelations are ironic, and reveal a startling degree of hypocrisy. As TPM reports, Bozell staked much of his career on challenging what he claimed to be a lazy media establishment, all the while taking credit for and collecting profits from books and columns he never actually wrote.
Bozell, a longtime arch conservative crusader against feminism, secularism, marriage equality and other LGBT rights, has written about such topics as indecency, media violence, and anti-Christian sentiment, with articles appearing in such publications as The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Washington Times, New York Post, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, and National Review. He is also a regular on television, appearing frequently on the Fox News Channel program Hannity.
Raw Story reports Bozell, founder of the far-right Media Research Center, was exposed by media watchdog Jim Romenesko, who revealed that books and columns that Bozell had passed off as his own work were actually written by MRC employee Tim Graham.
Following the disclosure that Graham ghost-writes Bozell’s works, at least one newspaper (Iowa’s Quad-City Times) dropped Bozell’s column as a result, saying, “Bozell may have been comfortable representing others’ work as his own. We’re not. The latest disclosure convinces us Bozell has no place on our print or web pages.”
