Hero: In a glorious bit of social justice, the Unipiper drowns out obnoxious street preachers by playing the Star Wars theme on bagpipes.
Earlier this week in beautiful Portland, Oregon, the beloved Unipiper defeated a pack of obnoxious street preachers trying to disrupt Portland’s annual Starlight Parade.
By playing the theme from Star Wars on bagpipes, the Unipiper mocked the hate-filled Christians screaming at parade spectators. The heroic gesture was cheered by many, including Portland police.
Oh, you think you can ruin the Starlight Parade for everyone? Here, hold my beer, I got this. #WeirdTrumpsHate #MoreWeirdLessHate #LoudPipesSaveLives #KeepPortlandWeird #Portland #PDX #MondayMotivation

The Unipiper is a unicyclist, street performer, bagpiper, and internet celebrity, also known as Brian Kidd. Using the magic of flaming bagpipes and a unicycle, he’s on a mission to Keep Portland Weird, and disrupt obnoxious street preachers when they threaten the peace and tranquility of the city.
Commenting on the event while speaking with local Portland publication Willamette Week, Kidd explained the situation:
I was lined up waiting my turn to step off for the Starlight Parade when these yokels show up and start making a scene right across the street. It was super frustrating because everyone was just there to have a good time and these guys seemed squarely opposed to any of that.
I always pride myself on using my powers to do what I feel is, objectively speaking, the right thing and in the best interest of the city, and in this situation, the choice to me was clear. So I take off and go over there to get up in their space and show them that their presence was not welcome by anyone.
Afterwards, I had several Portland Police Officers come up to me and thank me for what I did. I actually don’t like having to do things like this. Generally, I think my music is better suited to creating a positive atmosphere, but in this case, when the parade was seconds away from starting, there wasn’t really any alternative.
In short, using his powers fore good, the Unipiper saved the Starlight Parade from obnoxious street preachers by playing the theme from Star Wars on his bagpipes.
Bottom line: In Portland, Oregon, some heroes do wear capes. Cheers for the Unipiper!
