Stiefel Freethought Foundation donates to RBB

Stiefel Freethought FoundationWe are extremely grateful to bring you the following update: the Stiefel Freethought Foundation (SFF) has just offered to donate $10,000 to Rock Beyond Belief. This is huge for us. The Stiefel Freethought Foundation is certainly doing their part to support nontheists in the military, and we can’t thank them enough.

The Stiefel Freethought Foundation is the brainchild of Todd Stiefel, a local North Carolina activist who has been one of our closest allies from the very beginning. He is quickly emerging as a heavy hitter in the secular community. Just look at the rap sheet he has racked up in such a short amount of time.

Via Stiefel Freethought Foundation:

Todd is a secular humanist, an atheist and full-time freethought activist. He is the Founder and President of the Stiefel Freethought Foundation. Todd is a trustee of the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science. He serves on the development committees of Secular Coalition for America and American Atheists and advisory boards of Secular Coalition for AmericaAmerican Humanist AssociationSecular Student Alliance and Atheist Nexus. Todd is a consultant for United Coalition of Reason. He is a member of the board of the Triangle Freethought Society. He serves on the National Advisory Council (NAC) of Americans United for Separation of Church and State.

Todd has given over $3 million dollars to charities in the Freethought Movement. This is highlighted by $2 million to found the Stiefel Freethought Foundation and $500,000 to the Secular Coalition for America Education Fund. This also includes donations or pledges, before the founding of Stiefel FF, for matching challenge gifts to the Secular Student Alliance ($50,000), American Humanist Association ($100,000), Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science ($119,000) and American Atheists ($100,000). Todd is an annual Secular Angel donor to the Secular Coalition for America and made a one time gift of $100,000 to Americans United for Separation of Church and State. He sponsored Freedom from Religion Foundation “Keep religion out of politics” billboards during the Republican and Democratic conventions in 2008. Todd’s activism was featured in a front page article in the Raleigh News & Observer. Via a $20,000 donation to the American Humanist Association, Todd and his wife also helped sponsor the Second Chance Prom for Constance McMillen after she was not allowed to attend her prom with her girlfriend.

We are working with a few parties to become or piggyback off of a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, which is a prerequisite for accepting donations of this scope and scale. 100% of the funds will be going towards paying the travel, hotel, and related expenses for our distinguished lineup (more to come on that front as well!).

I’d also like to take a second to mention one amazing fact about our lineup. Every single person has waived their typical ‘honorarium’ thus far. Meaning, they are doing this for free, out of the sheer motivation to affect a positive change in the world for nontheists everywhere. The outpouring of support from the secular organizations, heroes, and activists has been touching in a very deep way.

Please attend Rock Beyond Belief on Fort Bragg in April, which thanks to the Stiefel Freethought Foundation and our wonderful lineup, can remain entirely free to the public.

See you there.
