Thoughts about the 4th of July

When you think about what the founding fathers did, theirs was an act of immense courage. They literally risked everything to put forward a principle that had no precedent in modern history–that a government should be “by the people” and “for the people.”

When governments forget their responsibilities to the people, they fall away from their basic purpose.
