Thoughts on Democracy on the Eve of the Elections

Thoughts on Democracy on the Eve of the Elections November 7, 2016

With the 2016 elections being described as the most contentious in modern history, I found an article quoted on the Scientology website in which Founder L. Ron Hubbard commented on Democracy. I thought these views were something we might all keep in mind, regardless of the outcome of presidential race. Mr. Hubbard said,

“Democracy is probably the best political theory, workably, that has been introduced over the last twenty-five hundred years.”

He also held that  democracy “postulates a belief in the goodness of men and the good sense of men in council. It postulates the belief that men should be free to decide things for themselves. It outlaws tyranny as undesirable and relegates government to the service of the group, rather than the group to the service of government.”
