Chris Christie Go Away!

On March 5th 2012 New Jersey Governor Chris Christie visited Boston, MA to fundraise for Republican Senator Scott Brown. Both Brown and Christie have been long-time opponents of equal rights for Lesbian, Gay, Transgender and Queer people, and Christie recently vetoed a Marriage Equality Bill that had been passed by both houses of the New Jersey Legislature.

In this speech I, as a Board Member of Join the Impact MA and Research and Education Fellow at the Humanist Chaplaincy at Harvard, speak out against Christie’s cowardly veto and in support of the American values of liberty and equal protection under the law.

The story was picked up by Towleroad, Joe.My.God and ThinkProgress. Even the National Organization for Marriage wanted to comment!

This is just weird: a guy from Britain who lives in Massachusetts lecturing the Governor of New Jersey on the sacred right of Americans … to redefine marriage?

They got it just about right!
