Reports that Franklin Graham, left, will be praying alongside Donald Trump on Friday when the numbskull with the haystack hairdo becomes the 45th President of the the US has upset the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
CAIR, according to this report, wants him dropped from the line-up professional god-botherers who will be present at the inauguration ceremony, the most contentious since the election of Richard Nixon and George W Bush.
CAIR’s National Executive Director Nihad Awad described the outspoken conservative pastor and son of evangelist Billy Graham as a “notorious Islamophobe” and added:
If President-elect Trump truly seeks to unite our nation as he promised in his acceptance speech, he will limit the list of those offering prayers at the inauguration to religious leaders who work to bring us together, not to create divisions between faiths.
Rev Graham’s ill-informed and extremist views are incompatible with the Constitution and with American values of religious liberty and inclusion.
A statement from CAIR pointed to comments from Graham in which he called Islam:
A very evil and wicked religion.
Graham also claimed Islam is incompatible with American values. He wrote on Facebook in 2015.
Every Muslim that comes into this country has the potential to be radicalised – and they do their killing to honour their religion and Muhammad.
And he once told CNN:
Graham is set to pray alongside Hispanic evangelical Samuel Rodriguez and prosperity preacher Paula White. The mainline religious traditions will be represented by Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Rabbi Marvin Hier and Bishop Wayne T Jackson.
True Islam cannot be practiced in this country. You can’t beat your wife. You cannot murder your children if you think they’ve committed adultery or something like that, which they do practice in these other countries. I don’t agree with the teachings of Islam and I find it to be a very violent religion.
Meanwhile, it’s reported here that “like angels from heaven”, hundreds of “prayer warriors” have descended on Washington DC to undertake a crucial mission: to protect Trump by building a “prayer shield” around him ahead of his inauguration.
Among these “prayer warriors” are the members of a new group called POTUS Shield (as in President of the United States).
Pastor Eric Majette from Virginia Beach, Virginia said the POTUS Shield is composed of pastors from all over America.
We’re actually a prayer group. We pray for leaders across our nation – a group of pastors come together to pray for our nation and our leaders, particularly the new administration.
Alveda King, the niece of famed civil rights leader Dr Martin Luther King, Jr and the director of Civil Rights for the Unborn, said they are counting on God to bring sweeping positive changes to America.
We’re really not looking for Mr Trump or any human to change America, but we know God can and will do it.
