Mississippi man kills eight, says God will forgive him

Mississippi man kills eight, says God will forgive him May 29, 2017

Willie Corey Godbolt, 35, who shot dead eight people at the weekend including law enforcement officer William Durr, inset, told reporters that God will forgive him.
According to this Progressive Secular Humanist report, Godbolt said after his arrest that he had intended to commit “suicide by cop” after the shooting spree that left seven members of his family and deputy Durr dead.

My intentions was to have God kill me. I ran out of bullets … Suicide by cop was my intention. I ain’t fit to live. Not after what I’ve done. Not in y’all eyes and not in nobody else’s eyes. But God, you know, He forgives you for everything.

Godbolt confessed to the crimes at the time of his arrest, and his confession was captured on video by The Clarion-Ledger‘s Therese Apel.
Authorities from multiple agencies took Godbolt into custody on East Lincoln Road in Brookhaven on Sunday morning, some seven hours after the shooting spree at three locations started. He has been charged with one count of capital murder and seven counts of first-degree murder. The identities of the seven slain in what appears to have began as domestic dispute have not yet been revealed.
Durr, married and the father of an 11-year-old son, was a two-year member of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department and a four-year member of the Brookhaven Police Department.
In the aftermath of the tragedy Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant issued a statement asking for prayers.

Every day, the men and women who wear the badge make some measure of sacrifice to protect and serve their communities. Too often, we lose one of our finest. I thank the law enforcement agencies involved for their hard work.

“But why pray?” asked Progressive Secular Humanist’s Michael Stone.

Wasn’t this all part of God’s plan? ‘Mysterious ways’ and all that, don’t you know. Indeed, the killer is already on his way to salvation and forgiveness, a guaranteed spot in eternity with all the other good Christians.
Because with Christianity, there is no accountability. After all, God will forgive you. All one needs to do is say some magic words, with sincere feeling of course, and all crimes and misdemeanors will be absolved, washed away by ‘the blood of Jesus’.
Bottom line: Jesus – The eternal ‘Get Out Of Jail Free’ card. Giving comfort and hope to mass murderers and other villains for over 2,000 years.

Since the gawd he believes in as seen in the book o’BS is a psychotic murdering ahole as well, I have no doubt his gawd will forgive him! But we wont!

Evolution has been at work on earth for several billion years. But its a very very very slow process … so slow that even today humans have not yet evolved into civilised fully rational cooperative thinking beings. You don’t have to scratch far below the surface to reveal the primitive tribal supersticious beast. I wonder if we will ever reach the point where humans have no need of religion and violence having evolved into a fully rational benevolent inclusive species. I don’t hold out much hope. Is there actually any real advantage in being so, an advantage that would drive human evolution in that direction? Or is it that there will always be an advantage in being thuggish, murderous, violent, tribal, divisive, prejudiced, selfish and irrational?

It’s always a humourous point (to me) when politicians or religious types say after a monstrous murdering spree like this that – we all shall, should, or will pray.
    Pray for what exactly ?
The sky fairy is most certainly deaf – so this statement means what exactly?

  • All sympathy to the family and friends of those who have died.

I’m not sorry I slaughtered eight people, but my gawd will forgive me – typical religious “thinking”

“Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. – Isaiah 1:18, In private revelation Jesus said to St. Faustina Kowalska “My daughter, tell the whole world about My Inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment.* [our emphasis] On that day all the divine floodgates through which grace flow are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet. My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity. Everything that exists has come forth from the very depths of My most tender mercy. Every soul in its relation to Me will I contemplate My love and mercy throughout eternity. The Feast of Mercy emerged from My very depths of tenderness. It is My desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy. (Diary 699) Do you know why people get doomed? Because, first they doubt in the Divine Mercy plus and second they regard themselves as sinless. These are sine qua non of all the habitans of Hell.

@Seff. Take your gormless, religious nonsense and your bible to a place where like minded idiots like yourself will appreciate them.

  • Seff

@Angela Most of you can only spit out this stuff. I collected from from only three pages of yours.
“Human gullibility knows absolutely no bounds, are you not only God deluded, but a conspiracy theorists as well, You are boring and a pathetic imbecile, factually incorrect nonsense cobbled together by middle eastern goat herders or claims made by charlatans and frauds, You have fallen very deep into the deluded Christian rabbit hole and I fear the self delusion is so strong that actual facts can’t penetrate the wall of religious indoctrination. In short, you are lost to the world of people who think for themselves, you are definitely the most crazy catholic I have encountered, The unintellectual contortions you go through show how stupid you are, You are quite silly. Most of what you wrote is utterly childish, You are not going to convince anyone by merely reeling off a list of nutters, Gilipollas, It’s made up bullshit by religious pricks who want to control their sheeple, No, angels do not fart. Because angels do not eat. Therefore angels do not need arseholes! Your comment which begins ‘The New Pentecost is at hand.’ represents the absolute ravings of a lunatic, when Barry doesn’t ban the imbecile, and the other odd bod on here, presently irrational but significantly deluded” My reply is you have already proven yourself to be an empty vessel that simply spits insult for want of solid argument.

  • Angela_K

@Seff. OK. How does the meaningless tosh you posted have anything to do the news item above? Answer: It doesn’t, you were just looking for somewhere to deposit your rubbish.

  • Paul

    Yawn.
    It’s Seff son of bob.
    Yawn.
    Troll.
Nothing of any importance to say. And can never answer a pertinent question.
Bit like praying to the sky fairy as he doesn’t ever answer either. Well, not unless you consider the shape of a pork scratching or some seeds of an egg plant proof he exists or can do anything at all.

  • StephenJP

    “Godbolt”. Indeed.
As far as I can read any sense into Seff’s ravings, he/she seems to be condemning all of us to eternal hellfire for doubting the existence of divine mercy, while giving Godbolt a free pass to heaven for saying that the IMF will forgive him. This morally disgusting doctrine, let us remember, is completely invented by man (and I do mean man: no woman could be so inhuman).
As for the efficacy of prayer, I am reminded of what someone said of the Yorkshire Ripper: “When we talk to God, it’s called praying. When God talks to us, it’s called paranoid schizophrenia”.

  • Stephen Mynett

StephenJP, agree apart from one point, I used to live and work Gloucester area and knew quite a few coppers from the area and I can assure you Rose West was one of the nastiest people to have lived, she controlled the pathetic Fred, who was by no means innocent but of the two was the slightly less disgusting.
As for Seff, no point in engaging trolls like him/her, they side-step any real debate and just ramble on with their own rubbish.

Myra Hindley was by no means the ingenue that she tried to portray herself as being either, as press reports following Ian Brady’s recent death have reminded us. Brady warned Lord Longford that she was manipulative and deceitful, but the widespread view – also held by the trial judge – was that Hindley had “come under the influence” of Brady, and that that that explained her otherwise “inexplicable” behaviour. The drama Longford is well worth watching (it’s available online), and Jim Broadbent deservedly won a BAFTA award for best actor for his awesome portrayal of the hoodwinked peer.

There is a Lord Longford buried in Green Hill CWGC cemetery in Gallipoli. I have stood over it many times and wondered if the ‘correct’ Lord is lying there.
I never understood what made him tick for how he ‘befriended’ Hindley and saw something that the population could not for she clearly was one of the most reviled women of the last century.

  • barriejohn

Paul: It is the Fifth Earl who is buried at Gallipoli. His last words were reputed to be: “Don’t bother ducking, the men don’t like it and it doesn’t do any good….” Yes, a quote that might have come straight from Blackadder Goes Forth. The Seventh Earl was a real enigma – proponent of the decriminalization of homosexuality who later called it “nauseating” and supported Section 28. He was the one who was “queer”! Hindley certainly had his measure.

Thanks all; I do stand corrected. But I didn’t mean that the female of the species cannot be deadlier (or nastier) than the male, only that the absurdities and obscenities of religion are much more likely to be the product of a man’s imagination than a woman’s.

seff: Fuck off you ignorant, god deluded fool. It’s beliefs like yours that lead to this kind of tragic act of insanity.
