Christian politician resigns after baring his backside on TV August 1, 2018

Georgia state representative and devout pro-life Christian Jason Spencer is out of a job after he bared his butt and repeatedly screamed the N-word in episode of Sacha Baron Cohen’s TV show Who Is America?
The idiot was pranked into dropping his trousers after Cohen convinced him that touching an ISIS terrorist with his bare buttocks would fend off a kidnapping. Cohen said Islamic terrorists are terrified that:

If you touch them with your buttocks they will become homosexuals.

Spencer, a member of the Harbor Worship Center in Kingsland, Georgia, took leave of his post yesterday after his outrageous behaviour on a July 22 episode of Cohen’s show. In Who Is America? Cohen dupes unwitting public figures into participating in fake interviews or activities.
In Spencer’s case, Cohen disguised himself as an “anti-terror expert” and coaxed Spencer into participating in a self-defence class to protect against terrorist kidnappings.

Cohen told Spencer:

If you want to win, you show some skin.

After the episode aired, Spencer said in a statement that Cohen:

Took advantage of my paralyzing fear that my family would be attacked.

He claimed he was assured the video of his “self-defense exercises” would be used as:

A demonstration video to teach others the same skills in Israel.

He previously claimed in a statement that he was told the video would be used as:

An educational aid to train elected officials who may be targeted by terrorists.

Spencer claims his fear of attack stems from death threats he received after introducing legislation in 2016 that would have banned Muslim women from wearing burqas in public. That legislation was the subject of Cohen’s first prank. Cohen asked him:

Do you know how to spot the difference between somebody who is a terrorist in a burqa and a normal woman in a burqa?

Spencer said he didn’t. Then, at Cohen’s instruction, he stuck a selfie stick beneath the robe of a burqa-clad actor and snapped a picture. There was no gun. “It’s not a terrorist,” Cohen said.
Another bigot who got pranked by Cohen was ex-judge Roy (Ten Commandments) Moore, a deranged far-right Christian who became visibly upset when a “paedophile detector” bleeped after Cohen waved it in his direction. Cohen told the mortified fanatic who has been accused of sexual misconduct:

It turns out that sex offenders and particularly paedophiles secrete an enzyme 4 DDHD which is actually detectable. It is three times the level of non-perverts.

Getting gullible idiots to perform stupid acts in public in order to expose their gullibility and stupidity is, I feel, a rather sick form of entertainment. Surely there must be other ways to expose a person’s bigotry than peering at their arse ? And anyway they all look the same.
‘…for the tyrant he doeth like the ape, for the higher he climbs the more he doth shew his arse.’ (Fracis Bacon – 1598).

OMG this guy us the biggest idiot! I can’t believe he was in public office. Who ties his shoes?

“If you touch them with your buttocks they will become homosexuals.”
Actually, that bit is plausible.I can well imagine an ISIS fuckwit believing it.

Sacha Baron Cohen used the correct marketing ploy to take in this evangelo-con ; he just said he was Israeli/Jewish and thus made his GOP prey go all starry – eyed and open to any con.

Ali G was one of the best things to come out of the very hit-and-miss The Eleven O’Clock Show (along with Ricky Gervais and Mackenzie Crook), but I do agree with @1859 that this is very cheap humour. I loved the interviews that Cohen used to conduct as his alter ego, especially the one with Tony Benn, who, as a person of principle (if a bit naive at times), comes out of it rather well!

While we’re on the subject of politicians, can I just point out that BBC Parliament is, at various times of the day, broadcasting thirty-minute unscripted lectures (remember AJP Taylor?) by Steve Richards, entitled “Leadership Reflections”, about six of the most significant British Prime Ministers of the past fifty years, and he’s brilliant. They, too, are available on YouTube!

His “Turning Points” was a good series as well.

If someone is stupid and gullible enough to be conned into performing on camera in such a manner then that person is unfit to hold any position of responsibility. I wouldn’t employ Spencer as a supermarket bagger.
I think Cohen is performing a public service. One of weeding the unfit from positions of influence and power.

The American media just. will. not. give up its bogus relativising and ‘on the other handery’ around the Right. If it takes Cohen’s more cringe-worthy antics to counter the complacency, that’ll have to do.
