About

I am mental health advocate and mentor. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder (bipolar 1) in 2006. I also have anxiety issues and ADHD. My journey back to mental wellness has been long and difficult. But it is getting better as I get older and more educated about my condition.

When I was initially diagnosed, my community members and friends were surprised and had a difficult time understanding my issues. There is a lot of stigma in the Muslim community surrounding mental illness. However, over the years, people are becoming more accepting of mental health issues and they are realizing how important it is to address the issue head on, with proper treatment. My goal is to help as many people as I can through advocacy and education.
