Because I Love You – The Princess Bride (In 2011)

I remember the first William Goldman film I ever saw – Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I ended up studying it as a Media student at university. This, however, remains one of my favourite films and books, let alone works by Goldman – and I’ve been fortunate enough to teach and recommend both to students. Enjoy this if you know what I’m talking about and click to embiggen. This one is for Kathy.

Wow. First time I have ever commented here but truly one of my favorite books as well as books adapted into film forever. It is strange to see this many cast members currently. Hurts a little still as my eyes pass to Andre the Giant (I grew up with him as my favorite wrestler on tv). Thank you for this post though. There were only two members of the original cast that I ever much saw any of their work after the movie.

Amazing movie. I rented it long ago when I was babysitting my niece and nephew and ended up liking it far more than they did. One of my all time favorite movies.

  • Greg

Best movie/book/story ever! What a great scene. Where ever did you find it?

  • Jim Baerg

We should all thank Spider Robinson for putting the duel at the top of the Cliffs on Insanity in an anthology in 1980, which resulted in ‘The Princess Bride’ book finally getting the attention of SF & fantasy fans.

  • BillyJoe

I’ve neither read the book nor seen the movie but I am going to do both very soon.
    Who is Kathy though?
(BTW, apologies for my first post on this blog, which I see was removed. I have a strange sense of humour. I’m sorry if it was inappropriate)

Never saw it – perhaps it was flagged as spam? Kathy is a dear friend and so I give her a shout-out. :)

So many quotable lines from the movie. Inconceivable!

Great image too. Andre in a frame is a nice touch.
