Profs And Pints Perth – Sex Ed, Science, Porn, Professionals And Prawn Dinners

It was the first full-day of teaching for me, so I popped in late and left early from SciTech Perth’s spin on science outreach via lectures in the pub – if you don’t know what Profs and Pints means, just think “Café Scientifique” meets “Skeptics in the Pub” with all the things that you love about interacting with fellow science fans, like a Twitter wall, great presenters on challenging issues, a fantastic, feisty host like astrophysicist and science communicator Renae Sayers, Q&A time and great food.

As you can see by the photo, it’s standing room only at the bar if you’re not there before the show starts. I promise to hang around longer next time, especially when it’s my turn on the stage!

All the tweets from the meet are collected for your perusal on my Storify Collection (Profs and Pints 26th June 2012 – WHO’S BEHIND THE BIKE SHED – PARENTS, PORNSTARS OR PROFESSIONALS), so if you were there and want to get some quotes, or if you couldn’t be there and wanted to know how it went down, feel free to skim through the lot! Here’s some highlight Tweets from the night (photo by Renae):

Thanks to everyone, especially SciTech and the Profs and Pints team for making these events happen in Perth – and I’m looking forward to the next one!
