    Dan refers to preachers who lose their faith but can’t leave the church because “…who’s going to hire someone with a Divinity Degree in this economy?”

    They could do what working class people do all the time – go fruit picking or get a job on the factory floor. It doesn’t have to be a white collar job.

      Yes, but perhaps the standard of living they wish to maintain… or even (as I’ve heard in the USA?) the paying back of the degree scholarship is a hindrance. Maybe it’s apocryphal, but it’s getting tougher and tougher to get into higher education and not end up with (hopefully) a degree without a massive debt?
