    Well, technically Loki wasn’t expecting Stark to have an automated back up. The goal during Loki’s escape was to somehow trigger Banner’s transformation. There is gravity in space, just likely not enough to accelerate a fall (unless the Earth’s field slips through the hole). Almost all “secret” bases are out in the open. The secret is what goes on inside. And with all this they still didn’t get “everything” that was wrong (though admittedly much of what remains lies in the fundamental premises of the superhero genre). Why does an advanced, space traveling military force seemingly have less order and sense of priority than a Viking raid? Why do they have no ABM technology?
