Street Preacher Convicted Of Sex Crimes

Street PreacherStreet preacher and cult leader Tony Alamo has been convicted of “taking five girls across state lines for sex.”

His five victims sat looking forward in the gallery. One, a woman he “married” at age 8, wiped away a tear.

The jury of nine men and three women found Alamo guilty of taking girls as young as 9 across state lines for sex, in violation of a nearly century-old federal law. Alamo was accused in a 10-count indictment that said the abuse started in 1994….

Women ranging from age 17 to 33 told jurors that Alamo “married” them in private ceremonies while they were minors, sometimes giving them wedding rings. Each detailed trips beyond Arkansas’ borders for Alamo’s sexual gratification.

Alamo’s perspective? That he’s just being persecuted for Jesus, of course:

“I’m just another one of the prophets that went to jail for the Gospel,” Alamo called to reporters afterward as he was escorted to a waiting U.S. marshal’s vehicle.

But it’s okay. All he has to do is ask forgiveness in Jesus name, and his sin will be cleansed and he’ll go to heaven forever — unlike all those evil people who lived good lives but didn’t believe in Jesus!

And by “convinced” you mean “convicted”, right? :)

Tony Alamo is a megalomanic psychopath. He’ll say anything that he thinks excuses and/or aggrandizes him.

He’s your standard quasi-messianic cult leader.

We read about this story in the paper at work the other day. The whole break room was in an uproar about how these “poor families” could be brainwashed by this man to the point of giving their 8 year olds to be “married” to him. I sat there without comment because here is what I find the most interesting– them recognizing the “brainwashing” of everyone else.

Search YouTube for “Bubbles of Delusion”.

The basic upshot is that Muslims (people who believe an illiterate camel trader flew to heaven on a winged horse and was dictated the Q’ran by Allah himself) can recognise that Mormons (people believing a guy called Joe Smith found a magic golden book, which he translated with the help of an angel and some magic stones – the angel took the book and stones off to heaven afterwards – which tells about a massive Jewish Empire in North America before Christ) are completely deluded – and vice versa. Both, of course, recognise that Scientologists (people who believe that we’re possesed by millions of invisible aliens called “thetans” which were invented by a science fiction writer who had a stated intention to get rich by inventing a religion) are totally bonkers. And so on, and so forth.

“he’ll go to heaven forever — unlike all those evil people who lived good lives but didn’t believe in Jesus!” – amen.

Now that he’s convicted, they should make sure he’s put in the general population!!!

  6. Roger says:

It really cracks me up how people like this guy who commit crimes always find a way to blame everybody else except themselves. Idiot.

The repellent obscenities that religions hide are an outrageous crime against humanity.
This is but one more example to add to the offensive stinking pile of immoral dross.

I think this dude was based in Nashville, back in the 80′s, when I lived in Nashville. He was a widely recognized scam-artist and weirdo back then, too. Doing something with real estate, or something.

I think maybe my dad met him back then. I remember that when Alamo’s name came up, my dad would get this disgusted look.

Note to readers: it’s not pronounced like the fort in Texas, but “uh-LOMM-oh”. Just FYI.

Wasn’t this guy hooked up with Jack Chick awhile ago?

I live not too far from Alamo’s compound here in Arkansas and have been following this story for a while. You can chalk up his success to the fact that this is the heart of the “bible belt” and upwards of 3/4 of the population here believe the bible literally word for word. Sadly, the man will never be put into general population in the prison he gets sent to, he’ll live comfortable in his protected custody cell block living like a king receiving donations from his idiot followers. This man actually wrote a new book to the bible and had his version printed. Funny thing, his version of the bible is very available in jails here. I sure wish I was christian so I could use “god” as an excuse to be human scum…..

“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.”

I know this is a long post, but I want to ensure Daniel and others that the idea that all Tony Alamo has to do is ask for forgiveness and he’ll go to heaven forever, is not a biblical teaching. Here’s a passage from 2 Peter 2. I think Mr. Alamo fits the passage. God is a just God. Thanks.

1But there were also false prophets among the people…Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping…12But these men blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like brute beasts, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like beasts they too will perish.

13They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you. 14With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning; they seduce the unstable; they are experts in greed—an accursed brood! 15They have left the straight way…17These men are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them. 18For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of sinful human nature, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error. 19They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity—for a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him. 20If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. 21It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. 22Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,”[g]and, “A sow that is washed goes back to her wallowing in the mud.”
