Wonder if this'll shut the birthers up?

Doubt it.

  • Hjalti

    It’s clearly a fake!!!

  • http://foreverinhell.blogspot.com Personal Failure

wow. His birth certificate is way more informative than mine. (And why do I need that much information about the POTUS, anyway?)

  • http://brgulker.tumblr.com brgulker

Custador, what’s the source for this?

(I’m not asking like a birther would! I want to share with others :) )

    • http://larianlequella.com Larian LeQuella

Yeah, I am a bit confused too. Of course, I haven’t been watching news or anything since I am on the road at the moment.

      • http://brgulker.tumblr.com brgulker
        • Michael

lol@ Trump’s response: “Today, I’m very proud of myself, because I’ve accomplished something that nobody else has been able to accomplish. Why he didn’t do it when everybody else was asking for it, I don’t know. But I am really honored, frankly, to have played such a big role in hopefully, hopefully getting rid of this issue.”

          What a jackass.

To be honest, the Faux News article was relatively straightforward and accurate, which is refreshing since I absolutely would not consider the birther crap beneath them.

      • http://ohmatron.wordpress.com/ Custador

UK Channel 4 News posted it to their Facebook feed this afternoon. I can’t say I’d be shocked at the likes of Faux News or talk radio not reporting it, but I’d have expected some coverage from MSNBC.

  • Mr Creazil

But it doesn’t say birth certificate, it says certificate of live birth!

  • http://messiestobjects.typepad.com messiestobjects

Just so we’re all on the same page, you guys know that this has actually been publicly available for 3 years, right? The continued brou-ha-ha has simply been birther politicians ignoring its existence in order to continue their racist agenda.

    • http://ohmatron.wordpress.com/ Custador

No, it hasn’t. The short-form has been available, the long form (this) has not.

      • http://messiestobjects.typepad.com messiestobjects

“We beg to differ. FactCheck.org staffers have now seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate.”

        http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.html

      • http://messiestobjects.typepad.com messiestobjects

Yes it’s a short form, but that is all that is ever required from a non-black president.

        • http://messiestobjects.typepad.com messiestobjects

Sorry to overpost and miss the point… I get irate about this. There is a huge billboard that I drive by often on Interstate 78 in PA that says “Where’s the Birth Certificate?!” Infuriating.

          • http://ohmatron.wordpress.com/ Custador

I absolutely agree, it’s pure race hate. Birthers are birthers because they’re evil, racist, hateful ass-hats. There is no debate here.

            • http://messiestobjects.typepad.com messiestobjects

Yeah, I sorta chased my own tail there.

          • vorjack

IIRC, some conspiracists questioned the authenticity of the short form. When that didn’t gain them any traction, they switched to demanding the long form. Again IIRC, Hawaii doesn’t exactly hand out the long form to just anybody, and there’s really no need for them to do so because the short form is considered legally sufficient. But it gave the conspiracists something to yell about.

It also gave the moderate republicans something to tsk about. “Why doesn’t he just release the long form and end the debate?” Of course, this won’t end the debate, and the moderates will find something new to tsk about.

            • http://a-million-gods.blogspot.com/ AVlCENNA

Isn’t the fact that he was born to an American Citizen mean that it doesn’t matter where the hell he is born?

He could have been born in a submarine in international waters and he would still be an american. That’s how american citizenships work. Otherwise it’s goddamn idiotic since all american women must give birth IN AMERICA!

              (Bandit Keith lives!)

            • http://ohmatron.wordpress.com/ Custador

Well, there’s the irony, of course – John McCain was born on a US military base in Panama, but that never troubled the birthers any.

            • http://a-million-gods.blogspot.com/ AVlCENNA

John McCain was fucking tortured and it never stopped any of his supporters from thinking stress positions and waterboarding was acceptable. It was just sad to watch him defend things he obviously thought was vile.

            • http://ohmatron.wordpress.com/ Custador

Indeed. But he was a weak old man who didn’t have the fire to fight his own “supporters” any more, let alone deal with that Palin brain-donor. What’s sad is that if you look at his political history, he’s done some good things.

            • http://brgulker.tumblr.com brgulker

Isn’t the fact that he was born to an American Citizen mean that it doesn’t matter where the hell he is born?

I think that only applies if both of one’s parents are US Citizens. To my knowledge, Obama’s dad wasn’t a citizen (at least not at the time of Obama’s birth).

            • Yoav

If your parents are American you will be an American citizen regardless of your place of birth. The presidency has an additional requirement for a “natural born” citizen which is interpreted as being born in the US therefore if Obama have been born in Kenya he will be a US citizen with the single caveat that he will be disqualified from being president. This make the whole conspiracy theory doubly ridiculous, they claim that his parents lied about him being born in Hawaii so he will be a citizen, but since he would have been one anyway because his mother was the only reason for them to do that is if they have the amazing foresight to think that he may one day run for president (in 1961 when a black president would have been considered too far fetched even for science fiction).

            • Len

              “natural born” citizen

              So a C-section won’t work, then.

            • http://ohmatron.wordpress.com/ Custador

I think we should demand to see Palin’s mother’s stomach and have it checked for scars. And I don’t want no doctor checking and reporting it for me, no: We should ALL check it, individually, one by one. And we should get to rub it with acetone to make sure there’s no make-up covering the C-section scar. WHY WON’T THEY RELEASE THE BELLY?! No scars there, what if she had an apesiotomy? We’ll have to see Palin’s mom’s vajayjay. I DEMAND TO SEE THE FULL VAJAYJAY! What are the Tea Party hiding by not letting us see the vajayjay? Why is it taking so long? Is the vajayjay being ‘shopped by a plastic surgeon to fool us all? THE SCAR FREE VAJAYJAY IS CLEARLY A FAKE! That woman is not Palin’s mother!

You know the sad thing? That diatribe is exactly as absurd as the birth certificate controversy, no more, no less.

            • http://ohmatron.wordpress.com/ Custador

Also: Donald Trump is a twatburger.

          • http://jacobblock.com Jacob

Was it updated to say “Thanks!” now?

  • http://messiestobjects.typepad.com messiestobjects
  • Greg Marshall

Nope, it won’t shut the birthers up, most are just complete and utter racist and we all know it doesn’t matter how many facts you present to a conspiracy theorist disproving their theory, they will continue to believe it.

  • Terradea

That information is necessary today, and I wish it was on my birth certificate … have you seen the new proposed passport application? The state department clearly want’s to prevent us (or someone) from leaving the U.S. in the future.

  • bigjohn756

The form looks simple enough. I wonder why it took so long for them to Photoshop it?

  • Thin-ice

The mentality behind not giving up creationist myths and time-scales is the same mentality of the Birthers: no matter what evidence you come up with, they are NEVER going to change their minds! Notice Trump’s first reaction: it’s NOT “Oh, OK, there’s the proof, I was wrong, now let’s move on.” No, of course not. His reponse: “It’s really suspicious that Obama waits so long to show it to us, and now it suddenly appears??”

Sorry, but I have to repeat the sentiment others have expressed here: the Birthers are lying, racist bastards.

I’m not crazy about Obama, but I knew the birthers were always crazy. As i get older I get so tired of the nuts on both sides of politics.

  • TheTruthHurts

Game over. The birthers lose. BUT THEY’LL NEVER SHUT UP. They’re gonna find someone else to complain about. I guarantee you that, just keep watching… “Oh, it’s fake.” “Oh, it’s photoshopped.” “He’s hiding something.” Sucks to be a birther right now, doesn’t it? People thinking you’re crazy, insane, a lunatic… oh wait, we’ve all been thinking that from the beginning. LOL! And by the way, AZ State Representative Carl Seel… What a moron. I think someone was a little starstruck and wanted to accompany Donald Trump on his little “fishing trip”. Too bad though, it looks like they hooked some boots.

  • James G

Even now that Obama’s shown his birth certificate, there still remains one glaring question that only Teabaggers dare to ask: if Obama’s president, how come he’s Black?

    • Ty

That is the burning question in their tiny minds.

  • Montana

The GOP is like the “Chicken Littles” always saying that the “Sky is Falling”, like the same ones that were the “Chicken Hawks” (“W” Wars), big talk no courage.

The United States, favors creativity wherever it can be found. We’re apostles of prosperity and defenders of the free exchange of ideas and when more people in more countries are free to rise, to invent, to communicate, to dissent, it’s not the doom of United States leadership, its the triumph of the American way.

Generations have worked hard and sacrificed much for the country to reach this point (individuals and our unions!), and with further hard work and sacrifice (along with our relentless self-doubt) the United States will rise again, we do not tire and we are coming back, no matter what Fox news and their GOP “Chicken Littles” lackies keep saying about our nation. Never Bet Against the United States!

Our current President travelled under a USA passport long before he was elected President, but I guess the quacky BIRTHERS, must believe that the USCIS – United States Passport was in on the lie, please, grow up, you are wrong! Remember when some contractors were busted during the “George W. Bush” administration for looking at our current President passport file (how quick you forget).
    http://swampland.blogs.time.com/2008/03/20/obamas_passport_files_hacked/

The Birthers just HATE and can’t debate!
Have any of the quacky BIRTHERS presented any credible proof that will standup in court? Answer: No
Have any of the quacky BIRTHERS won any Court Cases? Answer: No
They are just mainly backward, uneducated, white people who HATE our half African American President.

The majority of the voting public ask “where the proof”, show some proof BIRTHERS or the voting majority will continue to see you as dumb, stupid or racist, maybe all three. Can you blame them?

Still, I really hope one of these retreads and blowhards runs for president, not because they have a chance of winning but because I like to see the train wreck that they will cause.

An extreme rt wing friend of mine and is a conspiracy type notes that the race is African. African is not a race, and could be anywhere in the “color scheme of things.” Some Africans are white some are black. Just a wrench to throw into the works.

  • Nick

I’m not an American, but I follow what goes on in your side of the world and this recent article shocked me. That the President of one of the greatest developed countries in the world had to “prove” to his own people that he is born on its soil is just ridiculously sad. Add to the fact that instead of being embarrassed beyond words, Mr.Trump proudly thumps his chest and takes credit for this. This man is seriously courting running for the presidency?
To me this appears to be racial targeting. Such a hoopla would never have been generated if the President was a white candidate. The country’s conservative side is still racial,Islamophobic and atheist-phobic.

  • George

No one has ever justified why being a natural born citizen ought to be a requirement for the presidency. It seems somewhat legalistic, like arguing a court case over a technicality.

    • James G

I believe it was originally added so that the British couldn’t come back and install a puppet as president. It might have made sense when the States was a tiny country clinging to the Eastern Seaboard while under attack from all variety of people who might try and destroy them. But in a world where America is a multiracial hyperpower with by far the world’s largest military, it just seems like a way of discriminating against people.

    • Bill

It may be legalistic and out of touch with modern America. Problem is it’s actually in the constitution. Changing it will likely mean a constitutional amendment, which is unlikely to happen in the current political climate.

  • Nelly

Of course it won’t satisfy the birthers. I really wish our prez hadn’t put that out. Let the fringe eat their own trying to out-stupid each other while the sane of us watch……….in utter disgust.

The fact that a phoney-a$$ed-blow-hard like the Donald is their hero really says it all. The whole world is laughing at us
