Cardinal Sin

The graffiti artist known as Banksy has unveiled a new artwork at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. Called “Cardinal Sin,” the sculpture is a response to the Catholic child abuse scandal. It’s a bust of a priest with the face “pixalated” by using kitchen tiles:

The BBC quotes the artist:

“The statue? I guess you could call it a Christmas present. At this time of year it’s easy to forget the true meaning of Christianity – the lies, the corruption, the abuse.”

Do sex offenders have their faces concealed on TV in the UK?
Interesting concept, but I’m not much for work where the artist has just stuck things together. Would have been more effective if he had either sculpted or painted a modern cardinal himself, then applied his “pixelation.”
Does anyone recognize this bust? Anything special about this cardinal?

No, they show them, guilty or innocent. Simply being accused is quite enough justification for the tabloid press to ruin lives.

        Or being a paediatrician …

Oh and in other breaking news I believe that Rebekah Brooks’ PR man has asked for privacy over who the surrogate mother. Well that seems fair.

You probably wouldn’t like Banksy, but this seems to be an effective statement, where you’re looking for effort.

    So a priest, a rapist and a pedophile walk into a bar…

    …and he orders a drink.
