This is what I always share with people who challenge me about evolution.
This helps me understand something that was lacking in my understanding of genetics, biology, and evolution — why related species may have different numbers of chromosomes. I was actually going to post my question sometime on the forums, but I hadn’t gotten around to it yet!
When will the majority of Americans dig themselves out of the Dark Ages and quit saying, “GOD DID IT.” Evolution is the cornerstone of everything scientific. Get over it ! Just like the Catholic Church had to accept the fact that the earth revolves around the sun and not vice-versa. Thank goodness the gov’t hasn’t thrown scientists in the dungeon, yet ?
I’d have to disagree with you on the “Evolution is the cornerstone of everything scientific” bit. While it is a powerful theory, a lot of discoveries predate Darwin (for an overview, check this out). And the catholic chruch had to swallow even more: evolution! But the fundamental problem remains. We have ample and overwhelming evidence for a lot of scientific theories, but if people can still thrive in an environment where factual education and critical thinking are almost completely absent, we will continue to encounter those that are denser than a neutron star.
Are his PPT slides available anywhere on line in a more legible form?
