A reasonable blog on atheism, religion, science and skepticism

I love this guy.
I really enjoyed this interview with him, One-on-One with Maria Hinojosa on PBS. It’s not theistically smacking down but an interesting talk that’s different than programs where he is the host, and how he grew up and destined himself for his career. He’s just such a very cool guy:
“It’s not theistically smacking down but an interesting talk”
- Thanks for making that apparent. The picture is a bit misleading; Neil deGrasse Tyson isn’t against religion. He was referring to a particular way of reasoning out God. The “I can’t explain that, so it must be God”, Fox News host Bill O’Reilly sort of thinking.
Neil deGrasse Tyson is great. He’s like Carl Sagan 2.0: now with personality!
Carl Sagan was perfect for the ’70s and ’80s. Inoffensively hippie scientist with a down-home manner blunted by the herbs he almost undoubtedly just smoked before filming. Pretty much as non-threatening as a heathen cosmologist can be.
Neil DeGrasse Tyson is the ’00s answer to Sagan. He projects the excitement to match Sagan’s wonder.
I love Carl Sagan’s voice.
You mean Carl Sagan minus the weed?
Tyson is just the sativa to Sagan’s indica.
Best comment ever.
My estimation of Carl Sagan only rises, when he admitted that he smoked a little weed……… We need more Sagans and Tysons today, desperately! To fight the christian forces of DARKNESS……
Sagan didn’t admit he smoked “a little” weed. Mr. X seemed to smoke a hell of a lot.
Umm- you know, Sagan’s widow is the head of NORML? Was for a while at least, I don’t know if she still is.
If there really is a God, he’s probably not a pocket of ignorance. However, every god I’ve ever heard about seems to be.
Yet at the same time, scientific ignorance is an ever-growing pocket…
News Flash! God has been spotted by the Hubble Telescope! His image was dramatically redshifted however, as he was seen retreating from science at relativistic speeds…
So that’s the relative good news of god.
