Sometimes, I Love Patheos

Christian Piatt wrote a rather squeamish post about a certain all-female punk band that has gotten in trouble with the Russian authoritarians. He can’t even bring himself to write their actual name:

First, there’s the matter of the Band’s name, which I’ve deemed is simply too inflammatory to post here. They use a slang term for female genitalia which usually is meant to denigrate both men and women in the ways it’s used.

Well, Patheos put Christian’s post on their front page, with this image:

Too inflammatory … mmmm, maybe not.

Well, here’s something else that Piatt won’t write:

The folks at The Voice Project have opened up a Cafepress store to sell items with a logo based on Nadezhda Tolokonnikova’s now famous raised-fist shirt. 100% of the proceeds will go to the defense fund for Pussy Riot.

This still doesn’t change the fact that their music is really shitty…

…or that they have already been sentenced to two years in prison. But at least the Russian Orthodox Church forgave them first.

When I was growing up in the 90s, there seemed to be a lot of hope for Russia. Now, with an ex-KGB president in Vladimir Putin, Russia seems to be regressing into a police state. It’s a real shame.

Now that the members of Pussy Riot have been sentenced, is it possible that the money raised by the sale of the above items will go to their families or put into a fund for their children? I know that at least one of the band members is a mother.
