Sweet Transvestite and Being Judas

Here is the vid from my last two outings. I got in some requests like Long December, Rocky Horror, and Phantom of the Opera. I spent one night pretty much only doing musicals, and the other night everybody else was doing musicals so I followed suit.

I’m a baritone, but I like to occasionally play around with my top. I do a few high A naturals in Heave On Their Minds and Paradise by the Dashboard Light (though I change up styles when singing Meat Loaf), a high Bb in Mr. Roboto, a touched high B natural in Paradise, and a suspended high C natural in Long December.

Here’s the tracklist if you feel like listening to any part in particular.

1. Heaven on Their Minds (Jesus Christ Superstar) – :20
2. Mr. Roboto (Styx) – 1:44
3. Falcon in the Dive (The Scarlet Pimpernel) – 2:50
4. Anthem (Chess) – 3:35
5. Hair (Hair) – 5:17
6. Pure Imagination (Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory) – 5:43
7. Close Every Door to Me (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) – 6:05
8. Piano Man (Billy Joel) – 6:41
9. Music of the Night (Phantom of the Opera) – 7:42
10. Sweet Transvestite (Rocky Horror Picture Show) – 9:41
11. Paradise by the Dashboard Light (Meat Loaf) – 10:41
12. Long December (Counting Crows) – 11:46

You’ve got a great voice, JT. We should gather some other musical skeptics and cut an album. Call it “Dork Side of the Moon” or something.

Or how about “This is Spinal Chord!”?

“Keep on Dawkin’ in the Free World”

or I suppose “Keep on Rockin’ in the Free Thought” would work too. I just like wordplay.

    You have my sax!

*How’s that for a bad combination of pun, nerdiness, and music?

I love that you sang Anthem from Chess -it’s my favorite musical! You have a great voice :)

One of these days I’m gonna show up to one of your karaoke things and make you sing the hysterical arias from Harrison Birtwistle’s opera “Mask of Orpheus”. Because it would be funny.
