Godless NFL Thread

Bah.  Darren McFadden is still out, which means the Raiders are going to need a Herculian effort from Carson Palmer to beat Detroit.  Will it make it more likely to happen if I say I have faith?  Sadly not.

However!  Denver is finally running up against a team that’s competent and healthy in New England.  The Denver defense won’t save Tebow today, he’ll actually have to play quarterback.  I am going to enjoy the hell out of this.

Barely missed my upset pick last week due to a huge comeback by the Falcons.  *grumble*  This week I’m going to give them a shot at redemption and say that they’ll beat the Texans.  If they fail, Cam Newton is dead to me.

Alright heathens, let’s talk about sports!

About JT Eberhard

When not defending the planet from inevitable apocalypse at the rotting hands of the undead, JT is a writer and public speaker about atheism, gay rights, and more. He spent two and a half years with the Secular Student Alliance as their first high school organizer. During that time he built the SSA’s high school program and oversaw the development of groups nationwide. JT is also the co-founder of the popular Skepticon conference and served as the events lead organizer during its first three years.

I don’t think Carolina is going to pull out a win. I love Cam Newton more than most, but not against the Texans. They’re too plucky right now.

*arms in the air in triumph at halftime* :P

Carolina was up a lot against Atlanta, too.

  • ‘Tis Himself. Bah! Humbug even!

    John Hong,

You don’t think the Texans will coast now they’ve clinched the division?

However I do agree with JT that Denver will not do well against New England.

I’ve always been a pessimist when it comes to sports, so I actually think Tebow’s “magic” might continue this week. Which is really annoying. Also, New England’s pass defense might be bad enough to make even Tebow look good, even in the first three quarters.
But if one more sportscaster tells me I have to “respect his faith” I’m reaching through the screen and cuffing him.
Meanwhile, my Chiefs are only playing Green Bay. No problem. FYI: This is the Packers’ last road game.

Can’t believe atheists…ATHEISTS…are talking about football! That’s so damn….normal…as if they were normal people.

The dirty birds do not apolgize for their kickass comeback, and, if the fantasy gods are just, Brady will steamroll the broncos by throwing passes exclusively to the lawfirm.

My old bud Chris Bruce did some serious statistical analysis of Tebow’s miracles for his blog – football fan rationalist/atheists will dig on this: http://harvardsportsanalysis.wordpress.com/2011/12/06/tebow-is-still-producing-miracles-an-update/

Go Local Sports Team! Beat Our Rivals! Those guys really are only adequate, whereas we consistently rise above mediocrity! Something about their mother!

The Packers might lose their first game this season, and the Colts might win their first. Strange stuff.

    Hey… Chad Ochocinco sighting!

As a Chiefs fan, all I can say is I do not understand this game.

Packers lose. Broncos getting stomped. Bears lose. It has been a good day.
