Mental Illness Community for Skeptics

A tremendous amount of buzz has been floating around about building an online hub for people with mental disorders who don’t want to hear “Find a higher power” to congregate and get help.  Well, that site is presently being built.

The project is being headed up by Elizabeth Sturgeon, and any help she can get would be welcome.  If you have experience with building web sites, editing, or if you work in the field of psychology and can provide research, and if you want to help contribute to this site, please email Elizabeth at rainicornlady[at]gmail[dot]com.

When we take the step to be honest about our conditions, we immediately ditch at least part of the stigma.  It’s like letting go of a sack of bricks.  I’ve gotten so many emails from people whose lives have been changed just by finding out they’re not alone, that there are other high functioning loons out there, and that it’s not their fault.  This site will have the same effect on a grander scale.  I literally cannot exaggerate how happy I am to see this coming together.
