We Don't Grow Up

I try to keep how I act in private and how I act in public as similar as possible.  I like who I am and don’t really care if others don’t.  Living that way makes me very, very happy.  :)

About JT Eberhard

When not defending the planet from inevitable apocalypse at the rotting hands of the undead, JT is a writer and public speaker about atheism, gay rights, and more. He spent two and a half years with the Secular Student Alliance as their first high school organizer. During that time he built the SSA’s high school program and oversaw the development of groups nationwide. JT is also the co-founder of the popular Skepticon conference and served as the events lead organizer during its first three years.

My personal Motto has always been: “Never grow up and never stop learning!”

    • teh_faust

Isn’t learning what growing up is for? Maybe the point is never to *finish* growing up

  • teh_faust

    That’s bold, really!
And I can relate to that attitude.
Just like so many things, it can come with a price.
I think that being unafraid of appearing childish is a hallmark of maturity ;-)
It would be easier if it was just that it’s not just about people wrinkling their noses or disapproving, but there are the real worries some future employer is combing through one’s facebook, the worry that this joke or that particular part of clothing may dusqualify one in front of the department. Being afraid that posing with a beerglass or giving a cartoon character impression could make me look unprofessional sucks. It’s not a good indicator of competence.

“I’m trying to not fall into being serious!”
    -shows you picture of ferret-
“AWWWWWWWWWW! THAT’S ADORABLE! But that doesn’t help me be serious”
“I thought you wanted to be not serious?”
“You’re right! You win at the English!”
    XD <3
