Cranston Found Our Shirts!

Tee hee hee!

The Providence Journal has an article out about our Evil Little Thing shirts (buy one to look cool and to put a hero through college).

Of course, the commenters in there don’t like it very much.  Don’t we atheists know we’re supposed to be dejected when they call someone who is less dangerous than Canada “evil”, rather than amused at how silly that accusation is?  Don’t we know we’re supposed to weep tears of shame instead of mocking them?  Don’t we know we’re supposed to take them seriously?

Apparently not.  No, when we see silly things we snort and chortle, no matter how seriously people take it.

WWJTD reader and commenter, Randomfactor, has been in the comments dispensing complimentary verbal backhands to naughty bigots.  Good job, sir/ma’am.

Atheists could have gone the way of the religious and threatened violence when opffensive things were said. Instead the response was to co-opt the slur and make it our own.

That’s how it should be done.

  •!/VeritasKnight VeritasKnight

Man, there is some weapons-grade stupidity in there. Separation of church and state was invented by the ACLU in the 1940s!

  • Cuttlefish

But do Freethought Blogs get a mention? Noooooo… Ah, well.

  • Randomfactor

SOMEONE could do that, Cuttlefish. But WHO?

  • Crommunist

@Cuttlefish – nobody goes to this miserable site anyway.

  • Randomfactor

    Yeah, it’s too busy.

  • CoderHead

Awww, look at the atheists not taking insults to heart. I guess they’re going to have to start talking about our mommas.

  • sinned34

Hey! We Canadians are getting more dangerous by the minute. Our government is sending US$15B to your government in order to buy a handful of the latest fighter jets that we’ll use to secure Has Island from Denmark at long last.

On a related note, the comments on that site reveal the reactionary Christians showing off their true colours (not to mention ignorance of their own Constitution) time and again.

Hey, PZ, want to know why I’m no longer a Christian? Because they lie. Over and over again, they lie.

someone who is less dangerous than Canada

With Canada, as is Jessica, we can be dangerous when the situation calls for it.

  • Arancaytar

Less dangerous than Canada isn’t saying a lot. Those mounties don’t mess around. :P

(Of course, neither does Jessica, so the comparison may be apt.)

  • lordshipmayhem

    less dangerous than Canada

…as if sending you lot Celine Dion and William Shatner wasn’t enough to prove we were dangerous.

  • Matt Penfold

…as if sending you lot Celine Dion and William Shatner wasn’t enough to prove we were dangerous.

Irritating is not the same as dangerous!

  • Crommunist

Canada is “dangerous” to the same extent that your pre-schooler is “talented”.

  • Mike de Fleuriot

If there is an afterlive, I don’t want to get into heaven, I just want a seat outside the gates, watching these bastards getting turned away, like the true christians that they are. The more I see of theists, the more I dislike them.

  • John Eberhard

Randomfactor has indeed been knocking it out of the park over there.

  • Passerby

    “…less dangerous than Canada…”

The RCMP is a pretty well-organized group. Also, they introduced me to Tim Horton’s donuts and coffee, so I have to give them props.

Then again, Jessica’s been swinging the Freedom Hammer and Decency Boots against those who would subvert our Constitution and threaten her and her family for it, so I’d say they are on about equal footing.

  • F

    Tee hee is right. :D

  • evilDoug

But we haz same-sex marriage. All we have to do is cross the border en masse (some of us haz the nasty französische Sprache, too) and youse is gonners.

Ooooh, Cranston, I make ze raspberry and ze tee hee in your general direction!

” …as if sending you lot Celine Dion and William Shatner wasn’t enough to prove we were dangerous.”

Shatner I can handle…after all childhood heroes are hard to despise and ditch…Kirk’s contretemps with the Gorn Captain Agave in the Arena was a defining moment in my short life!

But Dion…well screw me sideways with a boating punt pole…that was not just evil incarnate that was a declaration of total incompetence…as an act of anti-social behaviour it deserves global sanctions on Canadian air at the very least.

Mind you persuasive mitigation being your neighbour might allow just the dunces cap in the corner for the duration?

But really…DO NOT DO IT AGAIN…it is not nice!

    • JT Eberhard

Celine Dion is not the only disturbing thing to come out of Canada. Let’s not forget Bryan Adams…

      • Rory

Canada has apologized for Bryan Adams many times in the past!

        …Okay, I’m finished.

  • Rod

Hey… let’s not forget we gave you Lorne Green and Peter Jennings as well. Was everyone here born after about 1985?

  • Tsu Dho Nimh

I’m not from that area, and I’m totally baffled: Why the hostility towards Brown University from so many of the commenters on the ProvJournal’s article?

BTW, JT … it doesn’t mean New Secular Order. That is a false cognate.
NOVUS means new, young, novel, or renewed.
ORDO means order, row, or series.
SECLORUM means ages, generations, or centuries.

Because the Brown family was invested in slavery. This includes the disasterous voyage of the slave ship Sally, where at least 109 slaves died on the voyage, and the survivors suffered so much and were in so poor condition, they did not sell for much at auction. The very frist building at Brown University, the actual first foundations were built by slave labor literally. Brown recently changed the name of the Columbus weekend holiday to fall holiday due to the non politically correct spinnings of Columbia’s voyages, but their holier than thou elites find no problem celebrating a family that profited and was heavily invested in the slave trade daily. Hence those familiar with the area will find something like this falls right in line with the holier than thou Brown crowd, and they are more than ready to place blame with that group
