Tell me what to sing!

Karaoke tonight.  What songs do you guys want to hear?

I already have some suggestions from my last post on singing:

The Impossible Dream from Man of La Mancha

Supertramp – The Logical Song

I Believe from The Book of Mormon

Stan Rogers – Northwest Passage

Stevie Wonder – Superstition

Leave suggestions/requests in the comments.  Preference given to songs I like or whatever fits best into my voice.  :)

About JT Eberhard

When not defending the planet from inevitable apocalypse at the rotting hands of the undead, JT is a writer and public speaker about atheism, gay rights, and more. He spent two and a half years with the Secular Student Alliance as their first high school organizer. During that time he built the SSA’s high school program and oversaw the development of groups nationwide. JT is also the co-founder of the popular Skepticon conference and served as the events lead organizer during its first three years.

Joan Osborne – What If God Was One Of Us

  • Art Vandelay

    Don’t Stop Believing

“Fire” – The Crazy World of Arthur Brown

This would just make my day.

Oh please, do the Northwest Passage.

That’s the song that -should- be Canada’s national anthem, rather than the pale and bloodless (and god-infested) Oh Canada. Not only is it important to us Canucks, it’s just a fantastic damned song. Stan Rogers is a national treasure.

    • Ringo

That is a wonderfully awesome song.

    • Epinephrine

My grandad always insisted that The Maple Leaf Forever was the national anthem we should have. Of course, there’s an argument that Canada’s Really Big should be our anthem, too.

    • lordshipmayhem

“O Canada”? I thought our national anthem was Stompin’ Tom’s “Hockey Song”…

If You’re sticking with the theme…

XTC – Dear God or The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead
Modest Mouse- The Ocean Breathes Salty

    • Ryan Jung

Modest Mouse has a number of songs with nonreligious themes, my favorite of which is probably Bukowski. And then you have their oddball creation story, 3rd Planet. I would love to hear JT sing either of those.

If you feel really brave you could also try Ghost Riders In The Sky.

        I third anything Les Mis!

I was a bit out of it last night but…
I don’t think you’ve done “My Friends” from Sweeney Todd since my request a few months ago.
