We did good

Jessica Ahlquist was on CNN yesterday and, as usual, did the atheist movement proud.

Check the video and note that they talk about the Evil Little Thing shirts.

First she spoke about how Palumbo’s remarks did manage to hurt her feelings, but look at her light up when she talks about the support she has received (and when people send her photos in their shirts).

We’re all in this together.  We’ve all made a difference for this incredible young woman.

Good job, everyone.

This whole story is just so amazing on Jessica’s part, and so sad on Cranston’s part. I’m curious how, 10, 20, 30 years from now we will look back on this event. I wonder if this will turn into one of our movement’s big moments. I certainly like to think it will.

Jenn from http://www.EvilLittleShirts.com here. I just wanted to chime in and let everyone know that JT’s idea for these shirts combine with this communities willingness to buy them had generated well over $5000 for Jessica’s scholarship fund BEFORE the CNN story. A new wave of orders is coming in since the story and pushing the total ever higher!

My question, forgive me if this has been answered, is if the widget on Friendly Atheist includes the amount from the sales or if that is on top of the 42k+? Just curious.

Nope, it doesn’t. Not yet. I have been trying to figure out how to make the donation without using Paypal but I can’t do that through the widget. I may have to do it directly through the group that is going to administer the scholarship. Not sure yet. Also, as of this evening, we have surpassed $6000 that is waiting to be donated! Yahoo!!

I’m proud to support her education. Rock on Jessica!
