Anybody coming to Madison who wants an awesome place to stay?

I’ll be yapping in Madison, WI this coming weekend.  Just got this comment from Sastra.

Hi, JT. I was really looking forward to meeting you in Madison this weekend, but my sciatica is acting up and I’m going to have to cancel both my convention and hotel reservations. Regarding the latter, do you or your readers know anyone who would like to take my room at the University Inn — it’s prime location on State Street very close to the hall where the speakers will be. Pricey — $139 a night — but there are two double beds. I have to call by either tonight or tomorrow morn to get my deposit back.

I’ve heard that most of the hotel rooms are gone, so I thought I’d see if anyone going to the Freethought Festival wants to snap it up…

I’m so bummed out to be missing this. The line-up looked great, and I don’t live far from Madison — but it would be too hard to take part without being able to sit or stand for long. I hope to eventually hear you speak at some other convention.

I’ll make you an even better deal.  Whoever gets Sastra’s room, I will pop up for a bit one night and regale you with magic tricks.  :)  Just let me know if you claim it.

:D Have fun, JT, and to those going!

I’d consider it, but I’m broke. I’ll be zipping in on Saturday morning, and might just end up spending the second night in the car.

Quick note; since I hadn’t heard from anyone by what I thought was the deadline to cancel, I called the hotel and they told me I had till tomorrow afternoon. Called my doctor and managed to get a morning appointment…so will see if he can hook me up with some serious painkillers or perhaps perform some other miracle.

So I still have the room and may be using it after all — in which case I will be the woman sitting in the back of the room… then standing. .. then sitting. .. then standing…

My being there will be the magic trick.

Or, my doctor may forbid me, in which case the room is again up for grabs. .. I will let you know. Thanks much.

I hope you are able to make it out – would be great to meet you in person! Best of luck with the appointment.

Thanks! Just got back from the doctor and am loaded down with prescriptions – so my husband will be driving me and I am going! Can’t wait to meet you, JT, etc. … and be aware that if I am anything less than totally brilliant and scintillating, it’s only because of the medication. Really.

So if anyone wanted the room, sucks to be you.

        I mean, I am sorry.

I will look forward to it. :)

I know how that goes with the meds. I’ll understand.

Im delighted to hear it. See you soon!
