Help Sam Singleton

To quote Richard Carrier.

I hear tell our good brother Sam Singleton is in real need of some income. Don’t know who that is? You should. He’s funny, poignant, and tells a damn good story. If you’ve seen him perform, you know it. Buy his videos for someone else who hasn’t, or for your own damn self. Or buy some of his other new cool stuff (from kindle and print books to some very affordable mpg downloads of his reading Mark Twain…Mark Twain, people! How do you not settle down to a good audio read of Mark Twain? What are you a humorless big city doohizzy?). Check out his website and buy something, even just one thing (his store is at Keep him touring and his wife in biscuits. (BTW, Patriarchs and Penises, and If the Ocean Was Whiskey and God Was a Duck–which are awesome, I’ve seen them both live–are now available in book form and kindle, too…you know, if you aren’t into the whole watching a performance thing.)

I second Rick.  Sam and Cari are two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet and Sam is a riot.  If you want to get a gander at his work, he is an occasional contributor to this blog.  Check out his past contributions A Case for Mockery and Atheism is Just Another Religion.

I dream of being half as good a writer as Sam one day.

About JT Eberhard

When not defending the planet from inevitable apocalypse at the rotting hands of the undead, JT is a writer and public speaker about atheism, gay rights, and more. He spent two and a half years with the Secular Student Alliance as their first high school organizer. During that time he built the SSA’s high school program and oversaw the development of groups nationwide. JT is also the co-founder of the popular Skepticon conference and served as the events lead organizer during its first three years.

His book and video ‘Patriarchs and Penises’ are excellent. Buy them, folks!

Would be sad if we didn’t obsorb him and let him get away. He speaks with the hard core truth in the entertainment genre, much like Bill Hicks did, Sam’s talent is as direct as the truths of Victor Stenger. Sam Singleton is one of a kind, almost akin to Lenny Bruce. I have no doubt Sam could follow in the void left by Carlin, Hicks, Bruce as well as Kenison. And if that time should come to pass, Sam could be as difficult to hire as a speaker for a Skepticon event as Sam Harris is today, but he wouldn’t do that. He’d still embrace the cause and the constituents that accepted him. If he doesn’t end up on the stage of the Tonight Show, much like Sam Kenison did, it’ll surprise me.

Sam is awesome. I tried to get people in Cleveland to get him up here. But I didn’t get much response. I think they’re still afraid of that southern drawl or something. I would love to see him perform.
