Zombies, run!

I’m more of a weight-lifter than a runner, but I’m pretty sure I’m going to download this and start doing some mild running.

My friend started using this to work out; she says it’s the first time she’s actually been excited to going running. *gives nods of approval*

Here in Seattle, there’s a 5K zombie run.

I think you need to do this, JT. I’ll pitch in for a sponsorship, get a donate button set up!

I haven’t tried this out myself, but my wife has and she’s given it two thumbs up:

I use this in my training and it is fun. Running in my rural area at night with only a headlamp with the sound of zombies behind you is very motivating to quicken the pace.

Oh and its all about the zombies, it can’t get better than zombies

Is there maybe a “Zombie Stroll” anywhere?

I’d like to know this too. There’s a question in the FAQ that touches on whether the game is playable by walking, but the answer is about as clear as mud and seems to be going for something like “it wasn’t designed for that, but it works accidentally as a side effect of other features”.

You can walk with it. If you are outside and using GPS, you have to be going at least 3.5mph for the zombie chases to be enabled. Otherwise you will just hear the story, music and collect supplies – same as if you were on a treadmill, elliptical, etc. I’ve even read a review of someone who listens to it while weight lifting.

I might have to try it out on my bike rides….

Zombies run! is amazing, and for those who asked–it totally works with walking, or really with any activity that can be tracked with GPS. I run, but I’m still doing couch-to-5k style intervals so I don’t turn on zombie chases anyway. That part is nifty and all, but just the story/collecting supplies for your town is pretty motivating. I played it at the same time as a friend, which kept me motivated to run at least as often as him, so I didn’t get behind on the story!
