Guild Wars 2 shadow guild.

Ok, so Guild Wars 2 has experience a host of launch bugs, just like every MMO.  Two of the big ones are that the Black Lion Trading Company isn’t working and that you can’t expand the maximum number of guild members.  Right now Arenanet seems to be dumping all its resources into the former problem.  That’s understandable because everybody uses the Trading Company, while not everybody needs a bigger guild.

However, since Godless got flooded by members in the first hour of head start, many people wanting to become members have been left out in the cold waiting for this bug to be fixed.  But I found out last night that there’s a good way for them to organize!  Two players, Celebnar (Celebnar.5019) and Gardenia (Gardenia.7195) have made a shadow guild to gather up all the wayward, would-be Godless.  It’s called We Are Godless Too and you can get in by messaging either of those to players or myself (Tsukmeibols.7340).  As soon as the bug on expanding guilds gets fixed, then everybody will get into Godless and roam the plains of Tyria spreading joy and reason.

Representin’ the Shadow Guild myself. Kudos to Celebnar and Gardenia. ArenaNet is also focusing a lot of their attention on the phishing and account hacking attempts and working to get their security up to par. I’d say that is a slightly bigger concern than their cash shop or guild sizes.

Props more to Gardenia first, she got the ball rolling. I was just organising on the forums. I didn’t even realize you could be in multiple guilds at once til she got it going.

Otherwise, you’re correct b00ger, there are bigger fish to fry. I just wish they could take on more then one problem at a time.

Yeah, I got some password reset attempts sent to my email account, which I definitely didn’t initiate.

I changed my password on the official site to be way longer (the old one was a short password from the first Guild Wars years ago), but it was a bit scary.

And last night with the server maintenance, it gave me a “wrong password” error when booting me, which made me think someone had actually hijacked my account. I checked with other guildies and it was apparently just slightly early maintenance, and I was able to log later this morning without issues, but I was freaking out for a few minutes trying to check if my password had been changed by someone else.

Anyone else notice any attempts at account hacking, or did I somehow get unlucky?

Yay, now I’ll remember to salute WAGT when I see them.

Ooh! I’ll have to remind myself to get myself into this guildy goodness later tonight. :D

  • leftwingfox

Got the invite from them last night. :)

  • recreant888

Oh goody! I was out of the country for pre-launch, but now that I’m back I’ve picked up the game. Can’t wait to get in and join up

By the way, I mentioned this in raidcall last night, but might have come across as incoherent. This thread is priceless:

Short story. ArenaNet announces on their Reddit that some people have been banned for offensive names and other issues. A few people pop on to ask why they’ve been banned, and promptly have the chat line including the slur presented for all the world to see.

    Schadenfreude; it’s what’s for breakfast. :)

I love the fourth rule of the guild : “Remember your IRL body”.

Tell us when all problems are solved, so I can come and play with ya. don’t really want to be bothered by bugs and stuffs…

Very happy that the shadow guild exists. I was one of those who didn’t get in on the first wave, but was still looking to represent. A hearty thanks to Celenbar and Gardenia!
