Review: ParaNorman

You know how sometimes you’ll be watching a movie and think, “An atheist totally wrote that line.”  Well, ParaNorman is full of them.  It was a great flick to which I’ll be dragging Michaelyn the next time she visits.

ParaNorman was made by the same group that produced Coraline, and it has a lot of the same feel to it.  It’s not as scary as Coraline, but it tackles some very adult issues, such as how fear clouds our moral judgment (*ahem* religion).  The dialogue is witty and the acting superb.  I highly recommend this film.

Also, Neil is the true hero.

He is seriously the most lovable character I’ve encountered in a while.  :)

About JT Eberhard

When not defending the planet from inevitable apocalypse at the rotting hands of the undead, JT is a writer and public speaker about atheism, gay rights, and more. He spent two and a half years with the Secular Student Alliance as their first high school organizer. During that time he built the SSA’s high school program and oversaw the development of groups nationwide. JT is also the co-founder of the popular Skepticon conference and served as the events lead organizer during its first three years.

I love the line in the trailers where he goes “Don’t make me throw this hummus! It’s spicy!”

We snagged the book of the movie from the library, and I thought it was pretty decent and had a good message about not prejudging others (especially on the charge of being “evil”). Good to know the movie will be a nice view too.

I wanted to see it after watching the trailer, but now I think I’ll make a big trip out of it with all the kids and the husband.
