FSM, get me out of this state.

I read this and it made me yearn for Indiana, which is saying something (sorry RHIT and Purdue peeps).  1 In 7 Ohio conservatives think Mitt Romney killed Osama bin Laden.

This kind of ignorance by American voters goes beyond sad and into scary.  As one of the commenters said, ” It goes right along with the belief that Obama, caused the recession, apologized for America, is Muslim, was born in Kenya and secretly wants to destroy America, created the Affordable Care Act as socialized medicine, purposely sent guns to Mexico so he could enact draconian gun laws and then start the takeover.”

The greatest threat to democracy isn’t foreign dictators, it’s a frightening portion of our own voting population being dumb as rocks.

About JT Eberhard

When not defending the planet from inevitable apocalypse at the rotting hands of the undead, JT is a writer and public speaker about atheism, gay rights, and more. He spent two and a half years with the Secular Student Alliance as their first high school organizer. During that time he built the SSA’s high school program and oversaw the development of groups nationwide. JT is also the co-founder of the popular Skepticon conference and served as the events lead organizer during its first three years.

I live in Indiana. I would not be surprised if the same poll got the same results (or worse) here.

I live in Indiana as well. If you’re wondering about the collective intelligence of Hoosiers, look at how far ahead Mike Pence is in the polls.

Actually, you might not want to. It’ll only make your day worse.

To quote an SNL parody of Fox and Friends from earlier this year

“I can name one person who wouldn’t have launched that raid: Barack Obama!”

I’m originally from Oklahoma and do NOT miss the place. You’d find a very similar set of completely erroneous beliefs held there.

    Ignorance is a virtue.
I’ve had religious co-workers mention that I shouldn’t care too much about my son’s education. “What you learn in school isn’t what gives life meaning.”

It may, however, include learning the literary origin of the phrase “sour grapes”.
