Liars for Jesus: Child Molestation style

Christina here..

I really don’t understand what motivates some Christians to be such liars for Jesus. Especially when they hate atheists so much that they aren’t content simply pointing out the unethical actions of some people who are also atheists as if that says anything about the character of atheists in general, but must resort to egregious lies.

Take for example, this gem from my Youtube video where JT interviewed Tisha Unarmed:

Wasn’t Mr. Eberhard recently arrested and jailed for child molestation? I saw an article on that. It looks like we were right about him! Atheist total fail:

Obviously, this is completely untrue. Not only that, but it’s an absolutely sick lie. It reminds me of the Christians who pretend to be atheists and say horrible things to prove to everyone how horrible atheists really are.

Just in case 1GodOnlyOne thinks I am suppressing “the truth” by deleting all of his comments from my channel and blocking him, let it be known that I am not blocking the truth, I am deleting a lie.

    Um, I’m pretty sure that’s actionable slander…..

    • Azkyroth

(I mean, I’m not an attorney, but falsely accusing someone of a crime is one of the classic examples, from what I’ve read).

    • Nicole Introvert

This is a time where I’d advocate for pursuing legal action. Or at least scaring the shit out of him with a cease and desist letter first.

Youtube comments are the perfect vehicle for revealing the depths of human stupidity. For every positive or constructive comment, there’s usually at least 50 written by morons. And, sad to say, the ratio gets even worse when the fundies get involved.

    Stay classy, 1GodOnlyOne.

It’s libel because it is written. Slander is spoken.

    From the wikipedia page:
    “How to prove libel
There are several ways a person must go about proving that libel has taken place. For example, in the United States, first, the person must prove that the statement was false. Second, the person must prove that the statement caused harm. Third, the person must prove that the statement was made without adequate research into the truthfulness of the statement. These steps are for an ordinary citizen. For a celebrity or a public official, the person must prove the first three steps and that the statement was made with the intent to do harm or with reckless disregard for the truth. Usually specifically referred to as “proving malice”.”

All of those conditions are met, except for demonstrating harm. Youtube comments are so lowly regarded that it would be hard to prove that someone making any accusation there caused you any harm. Now, if JT starts getting angry email for the molestation accusation or threats of any sort, then you would have grounds.

Anne’s probably a better person to check with than me, but that’s my layman’s interpretation.

Er, from the looks of it, I’m pretty sure 1GodOnlyOne is trolling.

I’m not excusing his behavior – not in the slightest – but I’m pretty sure he no more believes that JT is a child molester than he believes that reading the Bible can provide a “wealth of knowledge”.

I guess we’ve got kind of a Poe situation here.

    • Azkyroth

Of course he doesn’t really believe it’s true, that’s what slander/libel MEANS.

The problem isn’t that he believes it, the problem is that he knows it’s untrue and publicizes the claim anyway.

I’m mystified as to how you could possibly not see that.

      • Silent Service

Spot on, Azkyroth. Of course the idiot was trolling, that does not in any way excuse the lie or make it any less damaging.

      • invivoMark

Exactly what are you accusing me of not seeing? Aren’t we in perfect agreement?

Also, could you be less of a dick, please?

        • Azkyroth

Apparently not, because your response was worded in the form of a “hold on a minute” rebuttal…fatuously.

          • invivoMark

It’s not my fault you didn’t bother to read my post for content.

    • Sandy

Could we collectively give the Poe thing a rest? I have a really difficult time believing that *every single* anti-atheist screed or inane justification for faith that pops up on the internet is actually the handiwork of atheists who don’t fucking know how to write satire.

Unless of course your calling Poe was itself a Poe, in which case, troll on, mein Freund!

  • soupprincess

Also, the obvious response to the comment cough, cough, *Catholic church* ahem. Glad I cleared my throat, now we can discuss pedophile priests. Oh, those Christians. :b

Always report abusive comments, the comment you show is, at least, abusive and probably libellous. Just got blocked by 1GodOnlyOne on YouTube for posting (polite) dissension to the assertion on one of his videos. I don’t have a channel but wouldn’t block him myself. That is the theists tactic, along with disabling the ratings button and using the comment approval facility or allowing no comment at all. Let him post and challenge his perverted point of view, report abuse.
